Recently in an interview Blizzard stated they’re looking to give Warrior more utility.
Could we use this opportunity to swap Spear out for something like the Barbarian Steel Grasp from Diablo? Barbarian Steel Grasp
It fits perfectly, it would immensely help Protection Warrior that has absolutely 0 ways of dealing with mob positioning (we can’t knock back, pull, push, nothing).
I understand long distance grips are a DK thing, I’d think of this being something closer to a Ring of Peace when used to kick things into you, meaning it’d be a short-range cone, like a Shockwave’s length, for example. Still would be super useful to help us group things together when mobs are just repeatedly casting from far and what not.
Warrior representation tends to be based on which spec is doing better in Mythic+ at the moment. They believe the class does bring decent amount of tools, but that the meta tends to focus more on casters; leading to debates on what kind of cool utility they could give to a Warrior - Battle Rezzing would be kind of hilarious, but it’s something the team has been thinking about looking forward to Season 3. Tier sets have also had an interesting impact on tuning, as sometimes an abnormally strong or weak tier set upsets balance, despite the core class being fine.
While the comment of the bres being hilarious, it would kind of make sense over something like heroism/lust which people seem to always be clamouring about just due to the fact that both other plate tanks also have access to it now and it would still provide a unique addition to a warrior being able to fill into different group comps since hero/lust is always brought by their main partners of hunter/shaman when setting up ideal groups.
They’re also not wrong in that the meta always focuses on casters due to the mechanics they’ve given to casters over melee. It’s not rocket science when most of your casters don’t have any unwarranted damage caps and they’ve always got uptime that they’ll be the preferred option to bring in lower sized groups majority of the time as going full melee will punish you on uptime dramatically in some dungeons due to ranged only mechanics being able to target you.
I am interested to see what they have planned for S3 and if that entails a comprehensive rework of the class tree to facilitate additional utility and pathing for the class as a whole, but I’m also not going to hold my breath as these things do get delayed until the following xpac a lot of the time since they don’t want to shake things up mid xpac.
Oh yeah, trowing chains on the dude.
Give us that and Prot at least will become 100% more fun to play.
Our interrupt is melee range ffs, we need a grip.
I definitely don’t see the bress being the play here but at the same time, considering how strong most of the classes with lust are, I doubt lust would really put warrior in the map in terms of utility… Sure, we’d have a tank with lust at most but protection being the most viable tank for mythic+ is kind of a stretch, I don’t see it happening.
I think a compromised solution can be reached as far as the caster impunity goes. Spell Block and Spell Reflect can fix this and they are already in the toolkit. Successful Spell Blocks and Spell Reflect can Silence nearby casters within 14 yds, just like Disrupting Shout does. You would still have to activate it, and if you dont that is on you. It would put the choice to mitigate it on the player. Have it not active in PvP. And have that effect only be able to be proc’d in Defensive Stance.
That’d be extremely difficult to pull off in any pack with multiple casters, you might also just spell reflect something being simultaneously cast by a mob in melee range (even from some melee mobs).
Extremely impractical.
Moreover, it would only ever help the DPS warriors when handling monsters that cast on random targets rather than only on tanks. In this case, slightly better and easier to control than for the protection warrior itself, in fact.
Yeah, it’s kind of a weak option since engineer cables exist so technically everyone can bring along bres but this isn’t ever taken into consideration when pugs make groups since they tend to double up on bres specs once they have all their mandatory utility more often than not.
But if they were to provide us one of Bres or Heroism/Lust I’d be more happy about Bres being added than Lust alongside w/e other Control / defensive group utility they might add in as well or instead of.
Cause they are doing stuff now, listening to feedback and all, but that doesn’t mean they agree with players perspective on things, like giving warriors more utility in general.
About all these lust and bres discussion. Wouldnt it be so much easier for everyone if all the tanks have lust and all healers have bress while dps have other utilities. Would make m+ players life easier
I think they are afraid to give warriors bloodlust because of the implications on single player content. Content becomes trivial if the class has great survivability via armor and health pool being able to tank multiple mobs and then can dps them with a mega cooldown.
Oh you’re right, they are reluctant .
But that’s the environment they created right?
They made a competitive mode where meta means everything AND it is the easiest and fastest way to get the best gear in the game.
So now they need to balance everyone around it. No metter the implications in delvs, raids etc.
Everyone needs to be decent in M+ now, and that means bring something to the table, not just your a**.
Warriors don’t have a thing, so they need to give us a thing now.
Frankly I don’t think single player content is relevant enough to warrant any kind of reluctancy towards balancing the game. Comparably, enhancement is pretty much great in those aspects and have a lust and an Ankh too (excellent for solor content).
I just don’t think it’s part of the topic. They’re looking at end game content (mythic+, namely), and yeah it’s as Arthorias said: they made mythic+ that important, so here we are.
