To start off, my performance on warrior is very solid as I’ve been playing it for a long time, but every time Blizzard performs class tuning I am just left confused. Every. Time.
I don’t understand why Bladestorm and Reap the Storm are both receiving 30% buffs. This is a raid damage buff, not a buff to mythic+. Thane needs attention. I would’ve much rather seen a 30% damage increase to Thunder Blast and Lightning Strikes. Would’ve solved half of the complaining warriors are doing about M+ performance without pushing the class too far up.
I am not one of the warrior players begging for a massive playstyle overall. I very much enjoy the anger management thunder clap cleave playstyle of 11.1. I just know a bump to proc damage would make the class feel slightly more competitive. The damage I’m doing as a fury warrior in my guild’s raid team has consistently been in the top 3 damage dealers if not #1 on every boss we’ve downed. I would just like a bit more output in M+.
I have read many of the posts warriors have made on the forums and like many of those suggestions, but don’t see Blizzard raising target caps to 8 across the board, or buffing meat cleaver by 20%. And honestly, I don’t even believe those things are necessary. My performance on fury warrior even above 12s has sometimes competed with mages and hunters who are played by players I consider better than myself, but still would benefit from an increase to sustained AoE, which is supposed to be thane’s forte.
TLDR: Please give mountain thane a 30+% buff to lightning strikes and thunder blast. As small as that seems, I think it would do enough just to make those procs feel much more impactful and give fury warriors the small push in the right direction the class needs in M+. Thank you.
The buffs are nice for those who prefer to play Slayer. Thane is still stronger on AoE where Slayer is stronger single target.
That’s a fine place for things to be for the spec, but overall Fury still needs help in M+. It’s not like it getting bumped a few percent in raid would hurt anything either.
That said, I agree with you. It should be fairly simple. You focus on Thunderblast and Odyn’s Fury (since they just buffed Bladestorm).
Odyn’s Fury would further help Slayer find a place in M+, but it legit needs to be buffed by 75-100% to be worthwhile. Even with that kind of buff it’s unlikely Thane would want it - it just doesn’t fit as well into the Thane toolkit and priorities.
Thunderblast - buffing this for Thane is powerful as a consistent soft capped damage source. It plays into the sustained nature of mountain thane and would help Thane keeps its identity in m+ against Slayer burst (if they actually buff OF)

My biggest issue is that Slayer being buffed in M+ is not actually a buff to Fury in M+. It just makes the statistically less powerful playstyle an actual choice. Other classes get a proc and jump several million DPS up the meter. Thane gets a proc and does half a million extra damage one time.
I am not opposed to the slight raid buff, OR Slayer having a place in M+. I just think fury as a specialization is way too fun to play to be such a bottom shelf choice in the form of content which dominates most PvE players’ time on the game(M+).
I think if anything, buffing Slayer this way is a good decision, but giving Thane a similar buff would allow both groups of Fury Warriors to enjoy the game exactly how they choose.

Oh yeah, 100%. Now that Slayer will be in a better relative place the spec still needs more overall.
Blizzard focuses so much on the raid, but there is not a single person I play with that doesn’t spend DRASTICALLY more time in m+ than we do in raid. It sucks our spec has been so undesirable for so long in m+

think this is a good start but I would rather see it applied directly to Thunderclap and have it hit 8 targets before falling off(would benefit Prot Thane as well). Thunderblast would obviously benefit and Lightning Strike could still receive a 30% or so buff, maybe even make it apply to your current target to give a little more priority/single target dmg. I fear that without buffing the base kit if these Hero talents are only designed for TWW we will be in the same situation in Midnight.
On top of that I would buff Ravager the same 30% that BS just received it has less synergy than BS anyway but would again add to overall improvement without a rework or aura buff(thus not affecting raid as much as Slayer is the goto there).
Then there is OF which needs both parts to also be buffed as well as moved to 8 targets. If buffing the initial dmg is thought to have too much impact on raid then maybe have it hit 8 targets, keep the initial dmg and extend the dmg ticks to 6-8.
I’d love to see a buff to Improved WW of 55% to 75% which would make us more competitive in 5 target cleave situations(where Fury is supposed to excel).I’m not sure that would be Blizz’s first step to address the issue.
They could also look at possibly moving the bleed off of Bloodbath and applying it directly to Bloodthirst and redesigning Reckless Abandon but that’s more a rework type thing.
Just throwing stuff at the wall hoping that someone at Blizzard will see and acknowledge Fury and Warrior in general needs some love.
