With TBC around the corner I decided to share some tips on how to Warrior in no order.
Spell reflect is on a 10 second cooldown and is active for 5 seconds. Cooldown begins immediately after skill is used.
Battle stance is extremely good. You can shield bash and spell reflect in battle stance. No need to swap to D stance for these two abilities. Stay in Battle stance against everyone except Rogues, Priests, and Warlocks.
Disarm is really good in TBC since you cannot be completely immune from it. This is like a guaranteed silence against a Rogue/Warrior. Disarm when the enemy pops a trinket or big cooldown like evasion.
Taurens can war stomp through evasion abilities and stun for 2 seconds. That’s enough time to land two GCD’s (disarm > hamstring, etc.). Sweeping strikes hits through evasion. Use piercing howl when rogue pops evasion to slow them. Use hamstring or an auto attack to proc Overpower.
Overpower has a 5 seconds cooldown and evasion lasts for 15 seconds. In a perfect scenario, you can safely get 3 Overpowered hits against a rogue. Intercept/war stomp, disarm, switch to B stance and OP, keep piercing howl up.
Diminishing returns are dynamic ranging from 15-20 seconds. To stay consistent, always wait 20 seconds to reapply similar CC. Gauge shares a CC with blind. If you keep your intercept at a 20 seconds cooldown, it will never DR with itself. This is done by taking 1 point in the talent and wearing full pvp set.
Intervene can be used offensively when intercept is on CD. For example off a feral charge. Intervene often. Create a [nocombat] b stance/charge macro. This let’s you spam it without switching to B stance and giving your intention away.
Find a comfortable button to swap weapons with. You should be swapping to a shield often to mitigate spells and damage. Utilize your mwheel up/down. You can also use modifiers. I use ctrl+mw for zoom and have abilities binded to them.
Any key that can be pressed without moving your fingers off movement are top tier. Example Caps lock, C, V, B, mousewheel, and mouse buttons. You can modify these buttons too. You should exhaust these buttons before assigning anything else.
To hold threat in dungeons, either go deep prot and spam devastate, or cleave. If cleaving, make sure you are constantly switching targets. Here is a powerful combo that requires improved charge and sweeping strikes. Charge > auto attack > sweeping strikes+berserker stance+berserker rage > whirl wind > switch to D stance. Keep switching targets and look for the target with the least amount of threat and either cleave or sunder them. Press tab once after each swing and either cleave or sunder. This should generate enough threat to allow mages and warlocks to aoe.
Shield block makes you crit immune. Defense cap (490) also makes you crit immune. Heroic dungeon defense cap is 485. Regular dungeon defense cap is 480. You can achieve defense cap and hit cap in phase 1 by going fury prot with dungeon blues.
I have more tips but it’s not enough space to write.
