90+ parser in BFD & 99 parser in OG classic with pre-bis/bis pieces in Gnomer having trouble pulling threat off a Shaman while using every utility I have. Fix it. As it is, we’re forced to DPS tank because even with 5/5 Defiance, it’s still better to just use Bloodthirst. Why? Why do you continually pigeonhole tanks into using DPS specs in early content? Even now, Shaman tanks are dual wield tanking, and doing it better than Warriors.
People play Warrior tanks because we want to be the big hulking behemoth in a suit of amror with a shield…not a DPS in half mail + leather that happens to be in a different stance. Bring back shields being meta for tanks that can equip them. Some possible fixes…
-Increase base threat of Shield Slam to come out to be more than a Bloodthirst crit. Even 1% more will get the minmaxers to push Shield meta
-Add ‘while using a shield’ caveat on Way of Earth. There’s no reason for the rune to also give 50% increased threat when they also get Spirit of the Alpha AND Rockbiter in addition to taking reduced damage when they’re also pumping on DPS. This goes for any tank.

Just like vanilla, you ask your raid to hold dps so you can build rage and threat.

It’s ok to give mage heal, rogue range and double cp build up. But is not ok to let warrior build rage and hold threat.
Oh just a reminder of another lie devs made. Before p1 started when ppl asked about lock tank shaman tank, devs said they wanted them do be viable but never over main tank class such as warrior; it’s a line, now shaman and lock are better tanks….
Devs know nothing about wow classic.

This is silly though, because when the tank is a Shaman I can go absolute full force immediately without ever pulling threat.
Why would anyone want a tank that needs time to get threat?

Yeah I get letting people build aggro but the devs not giving tanks more threat to compensate for the power creep that they don’t have a handle on whatsoever anymore is really a dumb call…

More threat = More raid damage. No one is bringing a tank that makes you wait 5seconds (which still wouldn’t be enough for a sword n board warrior).

Shamans can get AOE threat on like 12 mobs, warriors have a 4 target clap that does less damage/threat. Make it make sense.

Warriors punished by the armor of bosses, gaining less rage and threat because of it. All the new tanks use spell damage completely bypassing this.
What is the purpose for prot warrior in this new mode? There isn’t one.

They really need to buff deep prot, here are some thoughts, while some will effect fury prot, most are targeted to making Deep Prot more viable, and not to boost other warriors specs.
- Change Improved Sunder Armor to also impact Devastate, also making it better than all other armor abilities, like hommucus, so it can be applied
- Update the Devastate Rune, so it also adds a cone effect to Shield Slam to four targets at 75% damage on additional targets and increases threat to all targets by 100% and increases damage on the target by 25%
- Add an effect to Blood Surge so when in defensive stance, Slam will do 200% threat (probably would also need to have a different damage modifier for 1h if a shield is equipped so its worth using)
- Add a second effect to Furious Thunder so that if its used after a Shield Slam, it does 100% more damage and 100% more threat and where it effects all targets in 10y.
- Buff Improved Shield Wall so it increases Def by 20 and armor by 5%
- Update One Handed Weapon so that when a shield is equipped, it increases Revenge damage by 50% and threat by 100%
Deep prot is in an okay place, but the long term problem is the fact that it was always the flat threat/low scaling that other tanks had.
In era the only scaling deep prot had was slight auto attack increase through AP and 1:20 strength block value on shield slam. Now we have devastate, while it does scale it is a very tame growth.
I would like to see a rune that improves defensive stances bonus based on the amount of defence skill we have. Like say you had 10 defence, that would boost the stance threat from 130% to 135% and damage taken from 90% to 89%.

-Blood and Thunder with an increased Hit Cap (4 isn’t gonna cut it. 6-8)
-Revenge Cleave (3 Max Cone)
-Actual Devastate from BC
-A Rage Generating Cost Free Attack

Warrior also needs to give up 10% damage from Consumed By Rage (which took a nerf already from 20%) in order to use Thunder Clap in Defensive Stance. Or Mocking Blow, our emergency forced 10s taunt. Why? Idk? Probably the rampant cranial-rectal syndrome in the dev room when it comes to this game?
Why does it have to be a rune? It should be a skillbook like my ‘increased blessing duration’ book.
Additionally tying that extra threat to a stat is a bad idea. What’s going to happen when +Defense starts showing up more? Suddenly Warriors will be able to shoot a mob and afk while the group kills it.
I’d rather see this as a skillbook (‘Ultimate Defiance’) which doubles the threat bonus of Defiance (so +30% threat while in Defense Stance instead of only +15%). Tweak from there to get the threat generation ‘nominal’ when compared to other tanks’ threat generation.
Really don’t want Runes to be used to tune ‘base class abilities’.
this is simply not true at all… every single boss was tanked by furyprot and feral druid in 2019classic with 0 issues.

I used rune because its just the general way in SoD, and currently extra threat is already tied to stats, just offensive ones like crit/AP/etc, like with fury/prot. Give a defensive option for scaling since we have no offensive scaling option currently for deep prot.
Because they can get massive armor and just eat the crushing. Unless they completely re itemize or add new gear you won’t see Shaman and Pally tanking 40 man raids.
I mean I wonder about the scaling more so later than now when we are talking about prot(which usually becomes impale/prot)
The later theory crafting of it being might set is your threat set due to full set bonus but by then the way abiloties are scaling and I mean this more so by caster type skills that are scaling up per level the tps will soon outweight the 15% sunder bonus we will get but at that point you’ll also have 9 rage heroics getting pumped out along side the sunder more frequently.
As for the now the consostentcy of getting heroics with sunders ontop of managing BC BS IS Shield block thunder clap on a boss like therma while maintaining the mechanics is definitely taxing. I’ve been considering a dw/shield swap 26a/5fury defensive/stance dance build moving forward mostly for the sword spec increased crit and aoe wise being able to swap dump a ww with a 2 hand before switching back to dw/s&b
Furyprot warriors were also mentioned… in my comment bruh… lu can tank every boss in the game DW as furyprot… even patchwerk… with good healers. and WBs
