In Blizzard’s presentation, they had a meme image saying that their goal with SoD is not to nerf warriors, but to make everyone overpowered. But I can’t help but observe that fury warriors already got 3 large damage increases:
Single Minded Fury (Passive +10% damage)
Consumed by Rage (conditional +25% damage)
Flagellation (conditional +25% damage)
These abilities will scale as we get better gear and world buffs. Warriors will be rotating Bloodrage and Berserker Rage to activate Flagellation, and pooling rage in between to activate Consumed by Rage, in order to have the 25% Enrage damage buff active a large portion of the time. (Berserker rage alone allows us to have 40% uptime.) So again, this is on top of the passive 10% from SMF 10%. Death wish (20%) will also stack with these. Now add world buffs. Profit ???
I mean… sure I’m super down, sounds fun. But it would be great to see more focus on party/raid utility given to warriors, as although we don’t lack utility, we lack it more than we do damage. Shouts or shout modifiers, banners, auras, etc. (thinking Warcraft 3 Endurance Aura for example) would be more interesting than just flat damage increases, and would give warriors more roles to play in a party/raid.
Edit: I also see a lot of other classes getting huge increases to their burst potential in PvP (shamans, mages, hunters, etc.) and a lot of new tanks getting massive defensive bonuses. So I’m also wondering whether warriors may start to fall behind in defensive utility and whether that may need to be looked at, rather than offensive utility.
Still going to get camped when you die to the person you killed 11 seconds ago because they dotted you up. You gave them just enough time to get back to their corpse first and refresh first. They should do something with warrior spirit for out of combat healing.
yeah I agree with me too (antipathy was taken on this server)
Yeah, PvP burst damage and warrior survivability is a whole other issue, and I kind of touched on that in my last paragraph I added in the edit. I’m a bit concerned with warrior’s ability to mitigate or slow down burst. Or some type of regeneration like you mentioned. Some classes are going to be doing obscene damage, while from a 30-41y range, out of charge range. And massive damage from dots is only going to get worse with the buffs SPriests and Locks are getting.

It is concerning. The pace of the game is going to be much quicker and the TTK is going to be much quicker as well. For classes without heals or defensive cool downs they are going to suffer, I am thinking rogue, warrior and hunter the most but of varying degree.
I’m most concerned with spell damage and dots. Physical damage and warriors is okay but no defensive abilities or attributes for the two.
sidenote I would be very happy with 5m battle shout.

Also it seems like blizzard wants the classes to be both better in groups but also on their own and I just don’t feel that way for warriors. Dots in general when farming force warriors in to a very carful position that most classes never have before these changes and more classes same after changes. I can be in T3 equiv gear smashing npcs but the dots still force me to be very protective. pvp though, eek burst is still the only option.
The pace is going to be insane. Many classes are getting tank runes with passive DR, huge HP bonuses, crit suppression, etc. I know we’re fine in terms of PvE mitigation, but PvP is gonna be a challenge.
I feel like our only option as of right now is to burst them down before they burst us. That may be possible with warbringer, but yeah we’ll still die to the leftover dots.
OH AND this whole thing puts the nail in the coffin of prot pvp which is insanely fun for some of us. Prot pvp is just about controlling the other player and avoiding key damage.
Yeah true. Prot style PvP has some potential in early low level phases with devastate and sitting Dstance with warbringer, but at 60 Arms will still be the way given what we know currently.
Although damage at the 25 bracket may still be too much. Hunters are doing obscene things with Lone Wolf and Sniper Training.
oh of course but being able to get tanky af with some gimmicky items to cc and kick healers in big team battles is very underrated and going to be much harder now too which makes me sad. Shield slamming a mage for 1200 is some fun ish

WoW has never been that type of game, but even if we can have inklings of it, I agree, it’s great.
That’s what I loved about playing tanks in PvP in Warhammer Online.
oh defiantly. Not until late wotlk into cata did prot get any kind of pvp love and I dont expect it of classic. It was an underdog, do it for the love of it type of thing. That is 100%$ gone now.
How would you help warrior out with runes?
Right, i vaguely remember that. We’ll see, it still might be the way to go in the 25 bracket tbh. I don’t see a 2h Quick Strike build doing better than sitting in D stance with a shield, spamming Devastate sunders on a focus target. Hunters are going to be too much damage, and it might be needed.
This was their way to misdirect away from the fact that they’re dumping retail on top of vanilla’s head.
They think you’re dumb enough to be distracted by their “make everyone OP” statement
Unfortunately, a huge population of people is dumb enough.
Yeah… I really wish they’d focus their efforts more on using runes to modify or enhance already existing vanilla abilities in new ways, rather just add a bunch of already used retail abilities.

Yeah I’m hoping it’s not telling of how bad Blizzard’s going to be in consideration to class balance. Sweeping changes is usually a bad sign
