Warrior question

I want to roll fury. Am I gonna forced to offtank if i want in on raids?

You need to be prepared to do so on occasion, yes. There aren’t too many fights where it will be necessary though.

No.

Fury warrior is literally top dps in raids. There will be more dedicated tanks believe me.

Most of the content is cleared with 2 tanks. Druids can off tank, so can pallies.

Grab your human racial and dual wield swords.

This is the correct answer to the OP’s question.

Don’t believe people who say fury is top DPS, if the fury warrior is top DPS, your other raid DPS is failing miserably.

As a fury spec ( or arms even ) you have to look at yourself as being similar to a feral druid or ret pally in raids. You won’t be filling a primary DPS slot, but you definitely have flexibility available that will result in you getting raids.

You won’t need to off tank often ( if at all in some runs ) but it’s damn handy if you can, which will increase your usefulness in raids.

If you aren’t willing to tank roll rogue or another class. There will be plenty of times where all you will do is dps, but if you want to see all the content you better be willing and able to step up and tank when it’s needed.

As with anything, there are different groups and mindsets in players/guilds out there. For example, if you are running with a casual guild you’ll probably be able to get by without ever tanking, though the chances of seeing all the content will be much lower in that environment as well.

This is completely incorrect. Fury Warriors have ALWAYS been exceptional and unless something has changed they will remain that way. By the time Naxx rolls around, the only class outperforming Warriors is Mages.

Fury Warriors are the BEST DPS in the game until Naxx. Period.

This is ludicrous. Warriors WILL be filling primary DPS slots. as a matter of fact, they’ll filling A LOT of them.

FORCED to? nope. no one can force you to do anything in wow. but if you are WILLING to, you will get into more groups and be more valuable to your guildmates. just how it goes.

No, you will be invited to both raids and dungeons exclusively for your DPS because Fury is the best DPS in the game, hands down and no exceptions.

You will have no problem whatsoever as long as your learn to play the class and put in the time to get your gear in order. Enjoy.

dude… fury warrior is logged as top dps by a long mile when in pre-bis all the way to BiS naxx gear.

2h furry and dw furry. Anyone who knows classic knows warriors were pretty much king at everything they did if they were geared.

Fury tanking in vanilla will be practically an afterthought.
Not saying it won’t be a thing, but many other “things” will have to take place…
Stellar DPS and heals to name a few.

what ???

I think you’re confusing later changes to classes, perhaps you started later in the timeline than where Classic is positioned. Original WoW, warriors were pretty much expected to be tanks for raids, only reason to go fury/arms was for PvP. Dual wield for DPS wasn’t that great until BC came out.

I stand by my earlier comment, if your raid has a fury warrior as top DPS, your other pure DPS is failing miserably.

No you won’t be forced to offtank - typically, Warriors that want to tank are the ones that get to tank in raids.

Also, which server you rolling? My guild needs like 3 more Warriors that want to DPS and not tank :joy:

you really don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.

classic is 1.12 which is the final patch of vanilla. Warriors were a wrecking house forever and were for the entire thing.

warriors being top tier dps isn’t even up for debate at this point. its been so throoughly proven its ridiculous.

A geared warrior was easily the scariest thing in a raid. 40 mans would get speed run with like 13 Fury warrior wielding ashkhandi/zinrokh/rag weps

if you’re guild DIDN’T have fury warriors at the top dps, ur warriors or ur guild was bad.

It will kind of depend on who you’re playing with and how good you are. It will help to be very good and play with friends who are dedicated tanks that trust you.

Assuming you’re in a casual or semi-casual raiding situation with a somewhat flexible lineup (since that’s all I can really speak to), there’s probably going to be a couple prot warriors that are designated tanks, and a handful of other warriors. Some of those other warriors would be called upon to act as off-tanks for certain encounters. I remember some of these guys being specced prot, but filling a dps role sometimes, and an offtank role other times. I don’t know if you’ll be seeing much of that now, though.

So if you’re the dps warrior with the best dps, they’d probably rather have you stay dps and choose a lower-dps but threat-capable guy to go offtank the add (or whatever) in those situations.

But if you’re in a guild or even just a raid group, you should be prepared to help however you can, and part of being a good Warrior is being able to understand and utilize those abilities in a variety of combat situations.

There will be plenty of times where situations go differently than expected, and the success of your team will depend on whether you can step up, switch stances, and lock down an enemy.

There’s typically 2 tank slots in a raid and like 30 dps slots. Fury warriors are among top PVE dps. You will actually have a very hard time trying to get raid slots as a warrior tank.

However, you will have a much easier time getting into dungeon groups as tank.

Either trolling or you just never played endgame.

Either way, the correct answer is that warrior dps is great and some trash / encounters require offtanks and a fury warr is gonna be your best answer to that problem. Once phase 3-4 comes out and better gear becomes available, fury tanking becomes a viable main tanking spec due to its threat generation and the fact that fury/tank spec has barely less damage mitigation than going full prot.

If you’re the only fury warrior and you don’t like seldomly having to offtank a pull, tell your guild and if they don’t like it, find a new guild. You decide how you play.

If you got feral druids in your guild then they can off tank. MTs will prefer druids so there isn’t as much loot competition.

Something to consider when thinking about what class is ‘best dps’ is gear drops. If rng does not give you the drops, good weapons in particular, then you will not be ‘best dps’. Some people are lucky, and some aren’t. It’s just how it’s always been in Wow.

Ain’t gonna lie, I a shed a tear at this beautiful post. Preach on my Warrior brother… even if you are Horde.
