Warrior professions?

So I will be playing Warrior tank in classic and will be switching over to pvping alot once I have the gear for it, but will also still raid with my guild as prot. Should I pick up mining and Blacksmith, or go with mining and engineering. How was it making gold if someone had mining?

Blacksmithing isn’t really good all things considered. Sure, you can make amazing things with it but none of it is BoP (I don’t think) and you can buy all the items you need from some other sucker.

Eng is a 100% need if you are going to pvp seriously. And mining is alright to supplement that, but it won’t make as much money as say, herbing.

From what I understand eng. is king if you wish to do any pvp. Use mining to get your eng up and dump mining for enchanting or alch. Mining doesn’t make much gold. I would not go blacksmithing. My .02

Pretty sure the very highest-level blacksmithed pieces are BoP.

Not entirely positive; that might have been Burning Crusade. But I think BC just had upgraded versions of the ones that were already BoP.

Mining/Engineering on warrior, make an alt for herb / Alch. You’ll need those pots if you plan to tank. They use more consumes then any other class in the raid.

Engineering is awesome since you get access to bombs/sappers/and eventually force reactive disk. Force Reactive disk for first few seconds of AOE pulls, then throw on Skullflame and GG EZ. (especially for suppression room)

BS in tbc had some fantastic items that were BoP only from armor/wep smithing. While BoP items did exist in vanilla from those BS trees, they were all mid level leveling items no one cared about at end game.

(looked up a list of BS BoP items on wow wiki)

Thanks for the input guys, Will go Mining and Engineering, I will level an alt, will be a hunter.

Oh and as far as gold making with mining, you can actually do OK. I recommend finding a Resto Shaman / and another non mining DPS and farming DME. At the end of the instance there are 2 Rich Thorium veins to try for Arcane Crystals. Also plenty of book spawns and blues to DE from the few bosses in DME you’ll kill.

Eng/Alch for main warrior, then just going to have hunter/shaman do herb/mining since they can get around quick enough to farm mats with ghostwolf or aspect.

Druid herber is best herber.

From what I have read a lot there are some pre-raid bis items that can only be made by blacksmithing. This being said your raid group will probably have their own blacksmith for raids so you might be able to get your gear through them.

I think this is probably your best bet. In less you are ask by your guild to be their BS you should choose whatever helps you pvp and raid.

On a little side note I am probably going to end up running a BS/engineer for my guild when classic comes out. This way I can be the one to craft Sulfuron hammer for the lucky individual in my guild who gets the drop.

Isnt hand of rag bop for blacksmiths? I was thinking of working towards one when I roll out. Eng is cool but i remember some things being an annoyance switching out your gear ect… the long cooldowns maybe i have gotten lazy and dont want the hassel lol

Engineering is the way to go. It has a ton of fun and functional gizmos in the Classic era.

No sir, it’s BoE and I’m pretty sure it always has been.

id do mineing engineering on a warrior.

im going to do Herb/Alchemy on a shammie

Didn’t they make engineering items unusable in pvp at some point? Pretty sure that was during vanilla

Wasn’t that during Arenas?

I think that came much later. Don’t quote me on that, though. I’m trying to dig through some patch notes looking for when bombs and rocket boots etc. were disabled in battlegrounds, but I think it was after vanilla.

It’s an older thread but people are probably reading it still (classic just got released so …)

At 60 you probably want one of these two combos:

PVP server: Alchemy + Engineering
PVE server: Alchemy + Enchanting

Enchments can be a royal pain to get since there’s no scrolls. Also Alchemy is great for money as well as raids.

Engineering is must have for PVP.

Leveling I’d go Herbalism and Skinning. Skin what you kill and use the Herbalist mini map locator. Use the Mats from Herbalism for alchemy and use the Skinned mats to sell for profit - anything left over sell for profit.
