Warrior missing attacks

Charge in auto attack, non-stop missing then i move a little my attacks start hitting.

whats up with this?

Could be weapon skill, could be just rolls of the dice on the hit table. Usually it’s the latter. It’s part of warrior life.

I’d like to think that white damage has the same hit probability as mashing hamstring or shield bash, but in practice even on green mobs, skills like that fail a comically high % of the time. Many fights I have to mash upwards of 5 hamstrings in order for one to stick. And again, that is on green mobs, often 6-7 levels below me.

TLDR, I am convinced that skills have a higher miss rate than white attacks.

6.5% dodge, 6.5% parry, 9% miss on specials, and 5% miss chance on attacks, and +19% more miss if dual wielding.

Life is pain for a low-gear dual wielder.

Do you attack things higher level than you?

Try being a shaman. Resist, Resist, Immune, Resist, Parry, Dodge, Resist.

Fun fact:
You lose that 19% chance to miss for your OH when you are queuing HS or Cleave

You swing 3 times and it misses, parries etc.? Very common.

Pretty sure there is some latency related bug that will show your attacks as “parry” “miss” etc when the actual issue is that you are out of range. I’ve seen it happen when trying to backpedal as a bear druid. Moving probably fixes it as when you move, the mob adjusts its positioning too.

You guys are kidding right… 9% hit only makes specials not miss… it takes something like 24% hit to not miss autos.

Breaking it down further, it takes 5% for a 60 to hit a 60… bosses are 63, taking 9%.

Try staying behind your target… at least then they won’t parry or block, though they still might dodge.

Skills have the same miss rate as white attacks (if not dual wielding). However, block acts a bit differently. If something fully blocks an attack, the secondary effects don’t apply, and doing so requires high enough block value. Hamstring hits weak enough that it will be fully blocked by most mobs, while your white attacks won’t. So you’ll see “block” a lot for Hamstring, but not for white attacks as they’ll just do reduced damage from the partial block.

RNG is happening. The problem with melee is that it has so many checks to do damage. It has to check if it’s a miss, dodge, parry, or hit and if it hits, then it has to check if it’s a block or a glancing blow.

Also, for each level above you, they gain additional dodge/parry/etc vs you. This is where weapon skill comes into play. So when you have a weapon skill of 310 for instance, that means you’re hitting on par with being a level 62 and it lowers the mob’s chance to dodge/parry/etc, and increases hit chance against them.

You can find plenty of guides that break down the math for you, just google for them.

Rng is a fickle mistress

You won’t notice this when you play other melee classes like shaman and rogue. They miss, get dodged/blocked/parried too but you just don’t notice it until you play a warrior because for warriors every hit counts. Shamans can heal themselves when they got a terrible combo of dice rolls and rogues can Vanish and peace out or gouge and sprint.

Every time a warrior pulls an enemy it’s like playing Russian Roulette or like in RPGs you just turn on the auto-attack command.

9% hit for 1 weapon, 24% for dual wield.

Even when dual wielding, you only need 9% hit to make all your yellow attacks land.

Annoying when soloing, aggrivating when tanking. Not a bug, not a feature, just warrior life.

hopefully this is the last post on this topic.

naturally everyone even you. has a 5% chance to miss. same+higher level mobs are +1 up to +3+1…

Like one out of 100 mobs will resist one of my spells I feel your pain.

I tried leveling my warrior as fury back in the day (WotLK times, but still similar content and skill trees back then.) All he did was miss. I found a nice 2-hander and switched to arms. SO much better!
