Warrior is completely unplayable

Title says it all. I’m leveling up several different classes to see how things have changed and Warrior is by far the weakest class and it isn’t even close. I’m only level 7 atm and I can barely solo a level 7 defias using the gear I’ve gotten from quests. Every other class seems to be almost overpowered while playing and I really liked them. Warrior however seems to be weaker on Season of Discovery.

That’s just classic warrior gameplay baby. Enjoy it.

I have a 60 Warrior on Classic and it wasn’t this bad. I had no problems with that one, but on SoD with the changes Warrior feels even weaker than in normal classic.

Classic warrior pal, spend all your gold on keeping your weapon updated. Slow 2h is best

the 25 cap it pretty bad for warrior, they don’t have about anything. They can parse decently but outside of that, i’d recommend playing a more complete class until level 40 or maybe 50 phase.

I kind of agree Hakairne, it has seemed more painful than usual with my SOD warrior. Still, kind of that classic vibe. If you make it to 60 you know you’re better than everyone else.

warrior is super rough until you hit 25 and get some gear. It was a real pain to level up, but definitely worth it after a couple dungeon runs.

Victory Rush is worthless, 10% healing is just not very good when some mobs can hit for 3-7% of your hp in one swing. The rest of the runes don’t help at all with leveling, and you’re pigeonholed into running a 2h build if you want to do any damage.

I think a big part of the problem is they buffed mob health and damage for SoD but didn’t really give warriors anything to compensate outside of victory rush, which needs to either be on a cd and useable any time (like retail VR) or needs to do at least 20-30% of max health in healing, not the pitiful 10% we got.

Yeah they buffed mobs to compensate for the runes, but warrior runes are kind of junk. You can’t use Victory Rush since every fight takes you to like 5 hp and you have to eat between fights, and the second rune most warriors will run into increase the slow of thunderclap by 6% to 16%…meanwhile other classes get runes with spells that almost 1 shot or 1 shot on crit, or teleport and backstab, or fully heal most players or highest dps ability the class gets.

Warrior runes are garbage and that doesn’t make up for the buffs to mobs

Warrior is better now than it was in Vanilla.

Just don’t try to tank anything for a while. I tanked RFC on my warrior around lvl 15 in a mostly arms spec, with an enhance shaman healing. The DPS thought we were playing retail or something. It was awful. Couldn’t hit anything, no rage, spamming taunt on CD, super squishy, Sunder/Devastate barely nudging the threat meter even when it does land.

Then I went bought a decent green two hander for him and went back to hulk smashing stuff and it was fun again. Bit more punishing than other classes but it’s doable. Warrior is just all about having a good two hander. Feels real good when you have some decent gear.

Just don’t play a Paladin, Lock, Spriest, Shammy, Druid or Hunter before playing your Warrior and you’ll have plenty of fun. Those classes are super strong to level with and have very little downtime if you can get behind the playstyle.

I think warrior feels good in SoD. Grab a Copper Battle Axe off the AH, then follow that with the RFC quest 2her and then the one from the Harpy quest line.

I tried Druid and it was so easy I got bored and stopped.

Devastate has really improved the experience for me. It’s basically mortal strike at level 5: 50% damage for 15 rage instead of 100% damage for 30 rage. Granted you are using a one handed weapon so the damage is actually half (okay, maybe not a fair comparison after all) but it is HUGE compared to the joke that is heroic strike.

Sure, it’s no hunter or warlock but it is surprisingly decent to me.

Spamming wrath for 10 straight levels was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring lmao. I was dumb and didn’t get the sunfire rune till I got bear form.

Druid is still level 10, that took a lot outta me. Lmfao.

Warrior is like 18 though. Smashin stuff feels good. I need to go get the shark near ratchet but that thing will eat me alive rn.

Definitely not unplayable, but after playing warrior to 25 and then picking up a mage, i was feeling pretty annoyed at how easy it got. Living flame crushes groups so fast its not even funny.

Unplayable might be an overstatement, but when you compare it to literally any other class it’s basically unplayable.

Should try playing a paladin man. It is probably not as bogus as a hunter/lock but my god is it ridiculous. All of my deaths have been caused by the absolute hubris this class gives. It feels like the entire game is just beneath you, giving you handys everywhere you go. It’s so easy to be overconfident on a pally right now.

Has me runnin around like I’m invulnerable and then I’m just constantly limit testing.

I haven’t tried mage yet though. Prolly next on my list.

Yeah paladin is awesome. You can feel the change instantly at level 2. Warlock is completely broken. I run around farming mobs with multiple pulls with almost 0 down time

Every class seems to have gotten stronger, except Warrior. It’s gotten weaker. There’s no rune where you equip it and you’re like OMG IMA GOD!

I think if they gave you Warbringer and Quick Strike right off the bat, it would have been SUPER fun. I think from a fun standpoint those look the most appealing for leveling a war.

They kinda make you put in some time on the struggle bus first though. I’m not too opposed to it. It kinda keeps the spirit of classic alive.

I’m about to start the run from Auberdine to BFD to get a crystal for this paladin weapon. My body is ready. Pray for me.

Yeah, we get Mortal Strike’s little brother and that’s kind of it. The lack of minus to healing on it means that some match ups are just not possible. Warbringer is okay but it’s simply not enough. On the plus side, mages seem much more afraid now, even if the advantage is mostly psychological since we have zero way to actually combat polymorph.

No, they aren’t broken. it is just how warriors are. My warrior is pretty geared. Yet I watch as I do a level 29 quest against level 28-29 normal murlocs and I just watch as more than 17 caster classes and a few pallies just steamroll over these murlocs while I have died nearly a dozen or more times. So no they aren’t broken it’s just the way Blizzard designed the warrior class. Yet watch past level 25 we will become stronger and better. so just for now grin and bear it.

Blizzard should buff Victory Rush to retail levels IMO. Make it heal for 20-30%.
