Warrior in M+

At a bit of a cross roads as a warrior main in TWW. I have pugged all the way to 2850 in M+, I learned early that warrior dps was going to be a long way to get into groups so was forced into learning how to tank and climbing 90% of my io as a tank since dps q’s are pretty rough…

What my issue is, we have next to no utility in groups while also doing semi mediocre dps compared to our mdps counterparts. If you look at all the the utility that rogues, shamans, and dks bring to the table. While also considering that for the most part they put us to shame on the damage charts as well. I have a hard time understanding the logic behind this. If we are going to have next to no utility, then we should be dominating the charts. It would be one of those mindsets where “hey, they may not have much utility, but do so much damage its crazy”.

Instead we get nerfs after nerfs and these mediocre buffs that are more of a insult than anything. I mean give us a bloodlust (Warriors Bellow or something like that since all we can do is yell to pump our groups up…). A battle rez? Make Battle Shout less of a meme buff. At this point anything.

Sorry this is a bit of a rant, just a warrior main that wants to be relevant and not have to swap the the FOTM classes all the time.

Yeah pushing past 11s mostly requires either pushing your own keys and making your own groups, while networking and picking up likeminded btags to play with people you mesh well with or getting into groups where people would prefer a warrior because that’s the best option that’s queued up for their key so far.

I get the call for more utility added to Warrior given other classes with a flat buff also bring something else to the table outside of stops in either bres or lust. Bres is something people need to get used to that everyone has access to, there’s zero reason everyone should not be holding a couple of jumper cables for use in a key given how little gold they cost as a run saver.

I personally don’t believe giving Warriors Bloodlust/Heroism will be the magic bullet people think it will be though for one of the main facts that a Warrior’s best partner in keys is basically a Shaman especially due to Skyfury being so good for basically every single spec we have since it gives us a decent amount more rage to work with. Any additional utility they give us needs to be centered around pack control be it through dispels or displacement.

Effectively if you’re a STR/AGI based group of something along the lines of Prot Pally / Ranged Hunter / Resto Shaman / Melee dps then a Warrior is a perfect filler for that final slot since your main utilities are covered, having an extra 5% AP is huge for the 3 str/agi classes in there. But you might not be as well wanted in caster groups, which makes some sense group wise but also locks you out of potential groups as a DPS.

It doesn’t help either that our health is handicapped from the get go with our stamina node being so far down the tree and it being a 2 pointer to boot competing with much better DPS nodes. The fact that we have 20% less stamina than DPS DKs and 10% less stamina than Ret paladins is criminal.

Both of which have their stamina nodes in either the first or second rung of their class trees and do not compete with dps nodes, which puts us at a large disadvantage health wise when it comes to surviving the higher the key level goes up.
We can only stack so many defensives for boss abilities before we just die to being capped not by skill but by our maximum healthpool when others can fly on by an extra couple of key levels with no worries at all.

There’s definite need for a refresh of our class tree at minimum to completely remove / reduce points in most of the DPS nodes, leaving some passives that are helpful, merging our stamina node to either leeching strikes or pain and gain as a 1 point talent.
Avatar and it’s Torments moved to the centre of the 2nd rung, To better mimic other class trees where their shared DPS cooldown usually sits.

Potentially just baking in the passive follow ups to Thunderous Roar and Spear and putting them on a choice node between each other with TR being the AoE shorter 45s cooldown and Spear being the go to for ST on a 90s cooldown to cut down on points needing to be spent in the final section of the tree and allowing us to path back into other utility we pass over due to the point investment requirement we need to put in the final rung as it is right now.

The warrior’s problems in M+ are essentially 2:
No utility and has a low survivability.
If you look at the statistics for deaths in raids on worcraftlog both specs are in last place.
So adding only one utility would not be enough, something else is needed.

A large portion of this data in raid (Specifically Mythic) even with us having a solid defensive kit in terms of mitigating damage is the lack of viability in taking our stamina talent. Which easily puts us ~500k+ health behind everyone else as Arms, Fury too is missing a similar amount of health but they’ve got their offhand boosting theirs a little more but still if both specs had access to said stamina talent in a good spot this wouldn’t be as bad of a statistic as it is currently.

Most deaths in raid also fall into one of two categories you’re rotting out off target so you’ve not no option to impending victory or in fury’s case enrage regen to extend the time it takes to get healed. The biggest outlier contributing to this is Kyveza, if healers are not on their game when you’ve been hit by queen’s bane you’re off target sitting in defensive stance pressing whatever you’ve got so you don’t fall below the threshold to get reaped. Which unfortunately happens in a lot of guilds. Sikran’s got a similar issue, if you’re forced off target or people didn’t clear the waves prior due to your lower health you’re usually one of the first to go splat.

Another contributor is that you’ve pulled agro of your designated job as ‘add killer’, enter Rasha’nan and Ovi’nax.
You’ll get your face bitten off by more infested bites and colossal spiders than you can count due to tanks not saving their offensive cooldowns to control agro of these priority targets, or they’ll flat out be padding on the little parasites and not putting their ST abilities into the spiders so you’ll be the first one to get the chomp.
