In Forever, rage was normalized. What that means in a nut shell is that crits do not grant us anymore extra rage. This is not the same Warrior as it was in 06 Classic by any means.
Currently the Warrior experience is:
Auto attack > wait > auto attack > finally have enough rage > press ability > wait again
Rage normalization is reasonable, but crits not granting us more rage doesn’t feel good at all.

This is by design.
I’m sure many of you remember the SoD reveal and the silly meme that was used by Blizz: “make everyone overpowered, not just Warriors” or something like that. General community sentiment since Classic has been that Warriors are the games most complete class, it’s overpowered and deserves to be nerfed in to the ground. Anyone who has played Warrior from 1 to 60, raided and participated in pvp will tell you that this couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes, it shines with gear, consumes, a personal healbot babysitter and world buffs. Outside of this you could make the argument that it is the weakest class in the game.
It does not excel at open world activities like questing, grinding and elite mobs. It does not excel at farming. It does not excel at wpvp engagements. It is the most gear dependent class whereas every other class has at least some abilities that work independently of gear. You get the idea.
The heavy handed attempt at balancing the class in Forever, whilst simultaneously buffing (most) other classes across the board tells you all you need to know of the direction Aggrend wants this iteration to go in. If you weren’t convinced, he mains Paladin. Big surprise they got a swathe of (positive) changes, arguably the most. Shaman too received a lot of love and he just so happens to play that class as well.
The take away is, as uttered by the histrionic reddit/bluesky community: Warriors had their time in the sun. Now you must forever pay for the original sin of being really good at the ultra endgame of Vanilla. Forever isn’t for you. Reroll, we don’t care.

World Buffs are what made warriors OP. Instead of nerfing warriors and other melee that outscale casters, just add more armor to bosses.

Maybe the goal is to make warriors less gear dependent. If that is true, then normalizing rage is a great first step. Then they can adjust stuff where it should be.
Y’all gotta keep in mind this is a beta that’s been out for a few days with a really low level cap. I’m sure there is a list of changes coming.

I don’t know what it’ll feel like at 60 but it is kinda weird right now, I’ll give you that.

I have some real feelings as a L20 Warrior spec’d into Prot and Threat generation but then I learned Sunder Armor threat modifiers is bugged and I feel less bad.

Playing Warrior sub 20 you will always be starved for rage. It’s just part of the deal in early levels. Warriors ramp like crazy and even with the smoothing of rage I guarantee you won’t have any issues once you get to the 30s

A simple fix would be to make rage function more like a Rogue’s energy. Then talents for rage can be spent on things that actually make the Warrior good.

Warriors “ramp” in Vanilla because rage works differently than in Forever. It’s been completely changed (nerfed) so now Warriors literally do not scale at all. They actually just ramp and scale like every other class does when they get gear.
Also to add: Why does Warrior STILL have to be the only class that sucks while leveling? Or, sucks relative to other classes? Why wasn’t this addressed at all?

Its ok, as long as we make the chuds happy about getting to press holy strike

So warrior is less dependent on Crit now to do their damage? Sounds like something warriors should celebrate

The trade off is now we don’t do any damage beyond auto-attacks.
sounds like very boring homogenization
No, that would involve them being exactly the same. I said “make it more like”, not “exactly the same”.
Also warrior is so rage starved I’m typing these posts while DPSing WC and auto-attacking.
I didn’t realize Warriors have a rage problem. I thought they were foaming at the mouth and acting crazy.
We don’t have a rage problem cuz we got no rage.

Celebrate not scaling? Do you press any buttons when you play wow?
It’s too early to tell how rage normalization plays out for warrior. My guess is that it’ll be fine. They don’t really take off in classic this early due to their gear scaling.
If they moved Anger Management to baseline it would probably smooth things out a bit.
is it true that rage from damage taken is extremely nerfed too? good lord
