Warrior feels stuck in Classic while others get pushed up to TBC or Wrath

Our runes kinda just suck or are boring. Prot levels faster than Arms because Warrior Runes just suck. Quick Strike is laughably bad, doing less damage than Devastate despite costing more rage, 3 rage per bleed tick doesn’t matter till late game, Thunder Clap usable in any stance is nice, but Warrior still can’t hold AoE aggro especially early on and this issue is shot up to 11 now that classes have a bunch of new strong abilities. Every single other class has an instant tag ability while Warriors don’t, a Rune that make Rend cost no rage and deal like 10 damage instantly would have been nice. Not like it would be OP, Rend is pretty infamously weak in Classic.

Pretty disappointing to see people getting these insane new abilities and Warriors getting nothing. I get it, Classic is the era of Warriors and Mages, but mages got a bunch of cool extremely powerful stuff, why can’t Warriors?

The runes are incredibly unexciting and boring, I’ll agree. Quick Strike is very good at fishing for windfury procs. There’s a rune combo with Raging Blow that makes you a dps machine but yeah, it’s a bit of a snoozefest. You can tank without speccing into prot at all and the “tanking” runes are complete trash which is a big shame. Still, ok I guess for people who enjoy 2 handed tanking.
Overall I’m very disappointment. Here’s hoping we get something cool like Bladestorm in the next level bracket.

I wish they brought back thunder clap spreading rend, wd be nice if thunder clap also did more damage to bleeding or sundered targets

Let us stack rend, so its damage isn’t pathetic or have it proc overpower

Quick strike… is pretty boring, maybe reduce its GCD every time you use it, have its rage cost start low and increase with each successive use as well?

Devastate would be dope if you could also use a 2h sword in lieu of a shield, 2h swords were originally intended as more defensive in earlier stages of the game like the Deanship Claymore that had +defense and a fast swing timer for more consistent rage generation, pity this didn’t continue late game, it’s sad that weapons in general don’t really hold their identity

Overall warriors runes are quite unimaginative, things like frenzied assault and single minded fury are just terrible thematically and mechanically, and that goes for any % stat boost, wheres the synergy!

SoD has potential, though I do wonder if Blizzard will be agile enough to respond meaningfully to underwhelming mechanics, they’ve balanced some numbers like nerfing hunters (rip), but honestly that’s not very interesting to look forward to tbh

What would you prefer be added?

Personally I’d like spell reflect and Shield Charge added as runes.

  • Furious Thunder: causes you to cast Thunder Clap for free after a certain threshold - either damage or hits taken (i’m thinking hits, this way its more useful for aoe tanking), in addition to the increase in threat generated. This makes it far more appealing for tanks yet does nothing if you are DPS’ing
  • Quick Strike: hard one because it’s just so awful. How about now it generates rage, does actual damage, but has a cooldown. Maybe 6-8 seconds. I have no idea why we have a spammable attack that barely does any damage unless it’s specifically for burning rage or proccing windfury
  • Warbringer: adds a second charge to “charge” on top of its current affect
    stuff like that

I’d agree warriors are not in a great spot, I’d have to say your in the same place as hunters.

Our two “new things” that made SOD cool got nerfed so hard they are not worth using; it’s basically just playing a vanilla hunter at level 25.

meanwhile, 18 warlocks critting choas bolts for 500, mages aoe farming with 20 + mobs on them, warlocks in drain life spec are basically raid boss’s and can’t be killed.

I feel your pain dude, warriors in a rough spot, hunters felt cool and then boom multiple nerf bats for no reason. It needed a nerf but not by that much… now all our “cool new ability does is break CC”

In vanilla, it was considered desireable to stack 27 warriors in a raid. Warriors were already optimal, buffing the other classes up to warrior level is exactly what was needed.

i’m looking forward to seeing raids stack nothing but paladins since they can fill every role, then watching them complain about having to share loot

Yeah but that’s my point, the others didn’t get brought up to Warrior’s level they have far exceeded us in every aspect. And Mages were also super OP and they got a bunch of new cool powerful stuff. Their AoE is now even more disgusting, they HAVE A HEAL FFS. Warriors don’t really have anything good except Devastate, and that’s really about it. That’s the whole point of the title of the post. Warrior feels stuck in Classic while other’s have their power levels equal to that of future expacks. I mean man Ret Paladin went from boring meme spec to one of the best specs in the game, far surpassing Warrior DPS, Warlocks are crazy too, and other classes still got fun new toys while Warriors didn’t, we got Victory Rush but the problem is that it goes on Gloves so you can never use it, since you’ll need either the extra rage from damage dealt for DPS or Devastate for leveling (Yes prot is better at leveling now because of this) and Quick Strike is just big doodoo.

Like I said I really think 1 thing that would help at least a bit would be to give us a rune that goes on maybe belt or back or something that makes Rend free, and deal maybe 5% of your attack power instantly. This would fix Warriors not having any way to tag mobs and also go really well with the chest rune that gives 3 rage per bleed tick, helping tanking a LOT. It’s really hard to hold aggro with all the new strong abilities people have.

I don’t think there is much you can do for warriors, they already had way more utility then practically any other class as well as having far higher dps. Personally I think they got some pretty good runes, especially if you go fury prot. Adding warbringer, single minded fury, and furious thunder, boosts their dps and makes them super nice, fixing the issue caused by the lack of tactical mastery (intercept/charge) as well as boosting their AOE threat with thunderclap. 10% more speed is also always nice.

It really is a problem. People dont want to hear about it because warrior were so good for 20 years in classic, its like we can’t complain anymore because of that. But warrior are plain boring in SoD right now. Everyone got exciting new runes and power ups, but warrior got nothing really.

Yep. Warrior is giga bad.

Everyone else is doing so much damage that you can’t even tank without spamming Taunt on cd. It’s awful. I hate it. I regret rolling warrior.

Double the damage of rend. Double the scaling for Improved Rend talent.
Have Thunder Clap spread rend to 2 additional targets if your primary target is under the effect of Rend. Double the damage of Thunder Clap. Increase all rage generating by 1.

Nothing like waiting 10 seconds to use 1 Sunder because it costs 15 rage and you generate 1.8 rage per second.

Warrior needs a lot of love in Season of Discovery. Sure, maybe we will be monsters at level 50 or 60, but we are basically gimped hunter pets right now. We are awful.

Well you guys DID have strong cool new toys but then Blizzard took them away from you. And you still at least have that nice buff for 10% stats.

Noob argument. I make the raid group and ensure that I get all the loot. The age of the uncivilized barbarian is over. The Light will reign supreme.

I really didn’t find mob tagging to be an issue, but I had to make some macros. The sustain is terrible though, and it does feel pretty bad as you watch other classes not only out dps you but due to runes they take way less effective damage as cloth than a mail wearer. Knowing how they scale into late game is literally the ONLY reason to play a warrior at all.
