Warrior Dreadnaught set

Did DPS warriors use this set endgame? I know the secondary stats and set bonuses are tanky, but the set is the best looking set in the game and would be a shame if DPS warriors didn’t get to wear it.

Yeah, when they were forced to OT lol.

The warriors would pick up the pieces when they were up for offspec. But as for using t3 in their dps sets, no.

Thankfully, you needed a crap ton of warrior tanks for 4HM so getting the set isn’t too hard even as a DPS warrior. Sorry rogues.

Posting in a Dreadnaught Set thread while wearing my Dreadnaught Set.

No, dps warriors do not wear tier 3 when doing dps. They’ll wear it when they tank, obviously, but it’s far from BiS for dps.

Warrior T3 was only for tanking and had garbage DPS stats. You’d want your tanks to get it and then the DPS warriors that would tank on 4HM to have some as well. Warriors never wear tier pieces for DPSing outside of the T2.5, which has some decent DPS items.

Some pieces are decent to use in a PVP set as they have high stam/str and make you much tankier but there’s no point for any non-tank to have them equipped outside of that.

Assume it was the same in classic, but in BC and LK a lot of BIS Warrior DPS items were leather/mail because crit > str and agi = crit.

Tier 3 is heavily optimized for Naxx for all classes. For Warriors it is exclusively a tank set.

Tier 2.5 from AQ40 has most of the end-game BiS DPS gear for Warriors, Paladins, Druids. iLevel doesn’t mean as much in Vanilla, it’s all about Attack Power, %hit and %crit.

Even in pvp, crit chance is inflated in value. That being said, you would be a nightmare to attack even without a shield as you would have so much defense and stamina. However, the strength on the gear is about half of what dps gear would have. 1200 ish hp, 3.24% reduction in the number of all crits against you, +13% chance to negate all melee against you, and looking BA. You miss out on roughly 300 AP and 6-10% crit.

You might be thinking that just a little bit of damage doesn’t make a huge difference, but think about that time when you almost killed some one then a healer pops a heal out. However, the reverse situation can happen as well. Personally, I would take the set in to pvp at the very least as a swap set, but I wouldn’t mind swinging the Might of Menethil with it either.

Well, you can just wear the helmet and shoulders, as they’re the most important components to the Dreadnaught visual.

You could, but you would still be doing damage greater than 95% of the population with superior survivability.

Take it into WSG with a Severance/MoM and watch the plebs fall at your feet, regardless of what tank stats are on it.

But no for PvE your BiS (Pre-Naxx anyway, I don’t know what DPS plate pieces are in there) is a mix of T2.5, AQ40 and BWL gear.
