With the lack of tanks on some servers is a warrior rolling as a dps frowned upon? I don’t feel comfortable with tanking, I want to feel wanted which is what a tank feels but I’m just not comfortable with it.
Is there an easy learning curve for a warrior tank?
There’s only one way of learning how to do stuff and that way is by doing it. The only thing you can do to make it easier is get with a group of friends that will understand you’re taking it slowly or by duing dungeons that you have outlevel. And if you feel like you don’t know enough just remember: nobody was born knowing how to do stuff.
Don’t buy into the the myth and hype surrounding warriors in general, let alone with DPS warriors.
Tanking is easy to learn, you just have to have a group willing to let you learn. If you can do that you’ll find it comes naturally very quickly, but trying to learn with the wrong group can quickly turn it into a no-go.
Read guides that don’t take an arrogant standpoint, don’t do 2 hander tanking ( show some love to your healers ) and stay away from the retentive types, you’ll do fine.
You don’t have to play a spec just because you might be “expected” to by someone else. Do what you love doing.
Tanking isn’t too hard to learn from a mechanic PoV. Main challenge is putting up with other players.
As for if it’s frowned upon… who cares. Play what spec you want. Anyone who tells you wars have to tank is a tool
The amount of warriors I have seen who think they can use a 2h (ravager) and get away with being a tank is absurd. I end up pulling aggro and tanking the entire dungeon and still do x3 their damage. At this point I might as well drop the warrior and get another dps all together. This needs to end now it’s really starting to annoy me to the point where I won’t group with any war if they are not a tank.
maybe you pull aggro cuz you dont wait for sunders retail guy.

All warriors can tank. It doesn’t mean they currently are tanking.
Yeah I love how a level 17 is trying to tell me how to play. No the war was just that awful. I know how threat works. If my corruption pulls more threat than a war with ravager that’s definitely the wars problem, not mine. Especially since he had a 1h+shield and decided to not use them or defensive stance. No demo shout, no sunder, no thunder clap THAT becomes a problem. Even the rogue was tanking more than the war “tank”

Assume the group will make it hard, all my groups do (especially aoe spammers)
You need to control your group and lead then. That’s what tanks are supposed to do, they lead the fight. If you want cc or a mob prioritized, mark them or call it out BEFORE the pull.

Maybe…but if they are leading, taking on the most responsibility and doing most of the work…maybe you should consider taking the time to help them develop rather than criticizing them into oblivion.

right now atiesh horde there are more warriors at 60 than any other two classes combined. there are more horde 60 warriors than ALL THREE healers combined.

Exactly, leadership is harder then mindless key smashing, on top of some people still not listening very well. Stuff like ‘dont power word shield or renew right after I ranged pull’
if you aren’t waiting for the warrior to get rage and threat then that’s really your problem.

I would be glad to help others and teach them how to play but I can’t help everyone, especially if they don’t want to help themselves. I even told this guy to please stop bsing around and just tank normally and he gives me lip and tries to wipe our group like an immature child. Most people just want to be carried unfortunately.
Warrior DPS in vanilla was great once you got geared. However, I would say learn how to tank, especially the level 50-60 instances. This way you can easily get the dps gear you want.

In a 5 man sword n board tanking is one of the harder things to learn but its not yo bad. Just remeber to use abilities on all the mobs and if nothing attacks the healer tou did your job. Taunt is to grab back aggro on the kill target after you established firm cobtrol of slll other mobs. Revenge>shield block(revenge not up)>sunder> heroic use battleshout and demo early in pulls
I agree with you, warrior tank should easily have threat before your dots kick in.
