Warrior Characters

I feel like we need more warrior representation with iconic characters again

we see all classes represented with iconic characters but warriors have seen a sharp decline we used to have an abundance of iconic warriors now it feels we have none some examples

Major Warrior Characters Who Died in Warcraft Lore

1. Varian Wrynn

  • Role: King of Stormwind, legendary warrior

  • Death: Killed by Fel magic and demons during the Battle of the Broken Shore

2. Anduin Lothar

  • Role: Supreme Commander of the Alliance during the Second War

  • Death: Killed in battle by Orgrim Doomhammer.

4. Broxigar the Red

  • Role: Legendary orc warrior

  • Death: was killed by Sargerras

5. Cairne Bloodhoof

  • Role: Tauren High Chieftain

  • Death: Died in a mak’gora duel against Garrosh Hellscream

6. Dranosh Saurfang

  • Role: Son of Varok Saurfang, Horde warrior

  • Death: Killed by the Lich King at the Battle of Angrathar the Wrathgate.

7. Varok Saurfang

  • Role: Legendary Horde warrior

  • Death: Died in a mak’gora duel against Sylvanas Windrunner during World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.

8. Garrosh Hellscream

  • Role: Warchief of the Horde

  • Death: Killed by Thrall in World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor.

As you can see we have lost nearly all iconic warriors and have not even one new one added its sad to see so many warriors culled and no new ones to take their place to see someone not wielding magic or the power of light or the void someone who fights purely with muscle and wit overcoming the odds

Bro like your yourself have mention you got Varian/Anduin (the better one) and Garrosh, all of whom are absolute peak units of characters.

We see them in Shadowlands (Red vengeful sprit) and Dragonflight (Great Glorious Alliance Varian).

Not to mention literally having their class hall in the halls of Odyn!

Warriors have got enough for another 3 expansions before they get another iconic character.

In any case this expansion has a lot of Paladins. Let’s be real, we’re just warriors that believe in the Light. :light_bulb: it’s your win just as much as ours

All the good warriors died because they saw the writing on the wall. Better to cash in when they did and bounce. Imagine any of those illustrious warriors in the current tone of the story in the last few years. Absolutely not.

Lorthemar is a warrior and is fairly prominent in the story thus far.

But yeah, those you mentioned were high-T and never skipped leg days. Two things this writing team hates.

In fairness, it’s not like warrior is the only player class that’s had ‘iconic’ characters killed off. But I think you’re also just overlooking those who remain. We’ve still got Danath Trollbane, Kurdran Wildhammer, Genn Greymane, and two of the three Bronzebeards are warriors. Granted…all of them are Alliance-affiliated. Horde kinda did lose all of their ‘warriors’ except for…Baine. And Eitrigg, but I’m pretty sure as a living fossil he’s basically retired.

Lor’themar is a ranger(hunter)

I’ve only ever seen him fight with a sword and never use a pet. Seems more warrior than hunter, imo, but npc’s don’t fit neatly into one particular class. Op mentioned fighting without magic and he comes to mind.

If you want to break into his true lore, he’s a Farstrider(Ranger) leaning towards survival hunter, with some spellbreaker in there. If you want to get weirder, Blood Elves originally couldn’t be warriors at all, since almost all BEs used fairly high levels of magic. At one point, he was competing to be Ranger-General, so his prowess with a bow is as good as the Windrunners, at least. It’s not easy to plop the major lore figures into the character classes or even specs. Re: Tyrande

Warrior ends up being kind of the default when you can’t classify a hero.

Thrall after losing his shaman powers, just a dude so warrior.

Anduin after losing the faith in the light, warrior

warrior is just the default, it’s kind of a bummer for warriors.

Just a dude/ette with a weapon.

Hard disagree. Broxigar jumped into a demon portal solo and swung on a titan with nothing but his loincloth and a +1 axe made out of cool tree. The beauty of the warrior is that they just show up with a sword they bought off the AH for cheap and go toe to toe with gods of creation

Broxigar has been dead for years. I’m sorry you had to find out this way.

He also didn’t just show up with his weapon, it was created by a demigod, arguably the greatest source of his power was a gift from cenarius

broxigar would have done what he did with a fork. he was built different

That’s true, he was the embodiment of the orc ethos. Victory or death

I like broxigar but at the end of the day he was like all warriors, just a dude.

It’s a very vanilla fantasy compared to the other classes, that was the point I was trying to make.

Some people like vanilla but it’s always going to be the sort of base standard.

And so any character with a melee weapon without an identifiable class characteristic will default to warrior.

Story’s been very magey since Dragon Flight. I’m not sure my illiterate oaf of a warrior could wrap his zugzug brain around phase-diving or disarming a mana bomb.

Anything can be disarmed if you hit it hard enough.

Broxigar is a name only spoken in legend. It would be amazing to see his story played out in game but, I fear many never heard his tale.

the truth of it is I fear, masculine warriors have no place in Azeroth anymore. In their place are council members and the soft handed children from leaders past.

Be the warrior you wish to see and teach people. When they see brown, they make brown.

paladins always get to shine though and they get replacements you have arguably some of the most iconic characters Arthas , uther, Tirion yes they did die but you now get turayleon, arator , yriel, maxwell, Liadrin , Aponi, delas.

Mayla is a Warrior? Or is she supposed to be a Shaman? Never saw her use magic.
Maybe Gazlowe? Mekkatorque? Darius Crowley? Thorim? Hodir? Geya’rah?

So many cultures revolve around magic, or at least their leaders do, like with Dreanei and Lightforged, all the elves, the shamanistic Tauren and Trolls, etc.

It also doesn’t help that their class hall was mostly Vrykul, and not filled with their class trainers and other NPCs like the other class halls. So, Hymdall? Hyrja? Ymiron? lol

But I think we’re overlooking one: Zul’jarra

She may be the new hash hey, but we did all those trials for her.

Your right about the warriors hall, Vikings are cool but not really for wow, my orc always felt out of place

His moveset in the escort segments of blood elf heritage is strictly SV hunter.

There are also spear and sword-wielding rangers in the farstrider mail all over Eversong in Midnight.
