Warrior Broken

I just made a post about the Armor Pen from apex talents not affect my damage numbers at all via combat log or flying numbers.

I just found out that on the Slayer talents there’s a talent that is called Unhinged and it states “Every 2 strikes of bladestorm, you automatically cast a mortal strike at your target or random nearby enemy, dealing 100% of normal damage”

It makes my mortal strike hit 50% less.. 5.2k mortal strike no buffs or anything, Unhinged mortal strike hits for 2.1k. on PvP dummy but the tooltip doesn’t show that even when in PvP combat.

On the PvE Target dummy it doesn’t hit for 100% of normal damage, it hits for a normal mortal strike amount. Unless they just meant mortal strike does mortal strike damage, which in that case why even say for “100% normal damage” because obviously mortal strike should hit for mortal strike damage. Blizzard fix your sh.

Uh… Let me introduce you to the world of PvP modifiers.

Take a look at the following.

https://www.wowhead.com/beta/spell=386628/unhinged?spellModifier=137049

You’ll notice in the spell details it is broken down like so for it’s PvP modifiers.

Effect #1 PvP mod 1
Effect #2 PvP mod 0.6

What this means is that every 2 strikes of Bladestorm procs Unhinged, but the damage dealt by those mortal strikes is 60% effectiveness in PvP.

It’s basically weird tribal knowledge that you need to be aware of by actually looking up every talent or ability’s PvP modifications to be able to understand exactly how much they contribute as they don’t update dynamically on the Talent Trees themselves in PvP settings which is also pretty awful from a pov where you’re unaware of these things.

It does, but 3% ArP is equivalent to ~1.3% damage (in PvE, PvP milage will vary).

Here’s the thing though, every ability has a built in 5% damage range, so you’re not likely to notice such a small difference since most of your numbers will still fall (broadly) within that range. Its the kind of thing that contributes adds up time, rather than having a large immediate impact.

Because numbers are variables, and if they ever feel the need to change that number to affect better tuning, they can do so without having to change a localized string.

Just one of those things that reads weird to users, but makes more sense from a technical perspective.

Heck yeah I’ll look at all of them. Well I’m aware of templates but usually I’ll hit the PvP dummy and the tooltip will change. I do this when I’m like level 20 so I can determine if I can find a playstyle I like. For example if lock dots are super nerfed but shadow bolt is buffed in PvP combat I’ll GG go next class, but I’m also learning there’s inconsistencies. Tool tips can’t be trusted which is a blizzard flaw because clearly they’re meant to change like a lot of them do.
