As a warrior, I find it frustrating that when I try to use one of my abilities (sunder, revenge, etc.) but I don’t have enough rage, it does not initiate autoattack, and I end up just standing there making polite conversation with the mob while it ganks the mage.
Is there a way to make attack abilities also initiate autoattack automatically?
I suppose I could make macros for all my my abilities…
/cast Sunder Armor
/attack on
… but that’s a lot of macros to maintain. Is there a better way?
I know I can just press T to autoattack, but if it could be baked in, that would be way more convenient.
I mean you kinda answer your own question here…
Yes there is a way and you’ve detailed it quite nicely. I would do the macros. You just do it once and your done.
As you suggested, macroing all your abilities is the best way to solve this problem
Eh? No I didn’t. I mentioned some workarounds, just so people know I’m aware and don’t reply with “hey, just press T!”
That is what I was referring to as far as you answering your own question.
As to your second question on if there is a way to “bake it in”, I believe the macro solution is the best way.
Macros are pretty simple and no need to maintain once it’s set up
#showtooltip
/cast sunder armor
/startattack
Enjoy!

Okay, looks like I have to bite the bullet and make the macros.
Do I have to specify spell rank in macros, i.e. /cast Sunder Armor(Rank 2)?
Thanks all.
80% of your time is spent running or eating, just take the 5 mins to do these macros
Correct me if I’m wrong, but unlike casters, you do not have all the spells ranks in your spellbook.
#showtooltip sunder armor
/startattack
/cast sunder armor
Just replace sunder with the name of desired spell.
Macros automatically cast your highest ranked spell unless you specify rank.
I always put /startattack first, don’t know if it makes a difference.
I also recommend a /stopattack macro on your intimidating shout. I kept autoing right after I use it and break fear then let out a rage scream

I found this most annoying when fighting those huge swarms of non elite creatures. They are beating the crap out of you and you are trying to a loot dead scorpion instead of fighting back when you right click. Attack macros are great lol
As a Warrior, you don’t have to put the ranks.
This, and the good thing is you only have 1 rank of each of your abilities (since theres no benefit in reduced cost for lower ranked abilities, Blizzard only lets you retain 1 at a time). You can simply just use /cast sunder armor or /cast (ability name)

you can just shift click the spell from your spellbook and it will put it into the macro automatically
Macros it is! Thanks everybody
I like macroing Intimidating shout with bandage.

Since physical dps skills automatically upgrade to the newest rank once learned and cannot be down ranked, no. You do not need to include the skill rank. Just use the default skill name. I do the same thing with my feral bear druid.
Also, just to confirm, macros are the only option. Skills with insufficient resouces triggering auto attack didn’t come until later expansions.
