Warrior Artifact transmog question

So I’m sure this has been addressed somewhere in this forum. When I am messing around with my Mog for my Warrior I can’t help but notice that the Iron Soldier’s Saber is an amazing sword and matches PERFECTLY to one of the artifact shields. Why are we not able to mix artifact appearances with regular items. I know it’s not applicable to all classes because some specs only use one item. I’m curious if there is a specific reason as to why this can’t be accomplished. I wish the artifact shields were separated from the main hand items. I would love to be able to use the flail with other shields as well.

The current way the game handles artifact transmog is a little screwy.

The game doesn’t normally take into account what weapon you’re actually holding, but since artifact transmogs override whatever weapons you’re currently holding (in my case, for example, I can mog this staff over a dagger and offhand, which is normally not possible) the game has to do some digital gymnasitics to get this to work.

From what I can tell, artifact mogs are applied directly to your main-hand weapon, and will override anything in your off-hand, whether you have one or not.

So in your case, you can’t mog a sword over your artifact main-hand, because doing so will just negate the actual artifact mog itself. Conversely, the reverse won’t work either, since if you try to mog a specific appearance over your shield, the artifact appearance in your main hand will just override it.

Kind of a weird way to go about it, I know, but it was the only way for them to pull off artifact mogs always being usable regardless of what weapons you’re using.
