Any thoughts or suggestions on going alchemy as a warrior? I figure being able to make your own elixirs and potions might be beneficial. Of course, I could always just learn First Aid for healing purposes. But potions are great midfight.
First aid doesnt take up a profession slot.
First Aid and Cooking and Fishing dont take up a slot.
Understood, as those are secondary professions. However, what are your thoughts on alchemy as one of my primary professions for my warrior?
I think you should have fun and if making your own flasks is what does it for you then go for it.
You might also want to go herbing to farm the materials for the potions.
Of course it’s fine. You can use the pots and elixirs and you can sell them. One does not only have to choose professions that relate to their gear. My herbalism/alchemist mage is my wealthiest toon thus far.
I think in classic any and all professions are viable and you should pick what makes the game best for you. There are slight edges with certain classes but MOST guilds at this point don’t care.
Alchemy is legit and perfectly fine.
Is your mage your wealthiest toon because of herb/alchemy? Or is it your wealthiest toon because it’s a mage?
If you’re not already leveled, it’ll probably make leveling a little easier as a warrior. Having access to “free” health pots and elixirs as you level.
I went mining/engineering. The bombs are nice but a lot of times I was out of potions and died where I could have salvaged it.
I don’t do AoE boosting horsecrap. It’s boring.
And I have five mages that I’m leveling at the same time. My alchemist is the wealthiest and without making a conscious effort to make money.
Do whatever you like but I couldnt imagine not going Engineering on warrior.
all warriors should be engineers and doubly slow for a warrior planning to tank. Your second profession can be anything. I have done engineering/alchemy many times. Just need an alt to farm materials.
I haven an alchemist mage.
Trying to make money off of alchemy in this excuse of economy is a joke.
Mage OP for gold farm.
alchemy/herb is great for money making, but you gotta just sell the herbs lol
You aren’t making money off of alchemy unless you put like 3k gold into it for the good recipes. But, if you do, you will have all the gold.
RN I’m 3.4k raw gold with it, and have a ton of investments like 300 shadow prot pots, but for recipes I have greater arcane elixir, every greater prot potion, resto pot, every flask, undeath to water, might rage, mongoose, etc.
It’s a lot of work, and it may be too late to catch up and make your roi back in those things. Those recipes cost a lot more now than they did 3 months ago.
Herbalism is good if you can get 4/4 herbs in the center grove of dme in 3 minutes. That requires a few items to do as well. Like barov peasant caller, book of the dead/cornerstone grimoire.
actually transmutes are good for money making too. such as undeath → water. oh man. that prints money
One of my favorite things to do in MMOs is be a little Apothecary Shop
Dumb Megaservers.
In classic, all classes should be engineers. It is just that useful. But everyone should also do whatever they want. My suggestion would be to level up as herb/alch. Then when you are max level assess if you really need alch anymore. My guess is you will decide you can drop the alchemy. It will have served its purpose of getting you easy pots while leveling. And anyone else can make you pots. It comes down to gold vs extra abilities. Alch, might make or save you some gold. But engr gives you more abilities. At 60, I would rather have more abilities than more gold.
That is my exact plan on my hunter. He is herb/alch. I sell my xmute cooldown. But once I hit 60 I will need to switch to engr for both pvp and DM. Having made all the various pots I would need for a long time. I will keep herb over mining as I personally think it is more efficient to sell herbs buy stone/bars.
Also note, most of the health pots a cheaper on the AH than the cost of mats, because they drop, and are in chests. But the other ones are nice to be able to make yourself.
In TBC things change, you will most likely want to be weaponsmith. As the crafted maces are very good.
I disagree… Level mining and engineering while leveling. As a warrior you can get tank spots in minutes and dynamite makes dungeons go 10x faster.
How is that disagreeing? I said everyone “should” be engr.
This. It’s kinda nuts to think how much that particular schematic sells for as well. Great return on investment though.
