Hello, my name is Mitsumi and I /had/ a lvl 50 mage on the new fresh classic realms. Today my main account was wrongfully and permanently shut down due to “Hacking”. I have been a loyal player of this game for over 15 years and have never cheated, used a script, auto hot keys, or whatever else there is out there that would be hacking.
After doing some research, I quickly found out I was not alone. I made a post about this on Reddit and a handful of server discords and was shocked to see the number of other mage players reaching out to me going through the same thing. I’m happy to see, though, that a handful of them have been unbanned, but they have claimed all of their unbans have been through Twitter, Reddit, or here on the forums and not the official appeal system.
After talking to everyone, we’re still not 100% sure what is causing our accounts to be wrongfully flagged for cheating, but we have all either done or spammed spell cleave dung groups while leveling. The only thing we can think of this has to be some anti-botting auto-detection that is going haywire.
Until this is looked at and fixed BE WARNED - YOU MIGHT WANT TO AVOID ANY/ALL MAGE AOE DUNG FARMS, SM CATH, SOLO ZF, ETC! I have over fourteen DMs of people who have had their accounts perm-banned due to whatever is going on. Below I’ll link a few related posts by other players currently going through this. And to any staff member that may come across this threat please feel free to reach out to me! I have a lot of people trying to figure out how to get their accounts back, and I have over 4 hours of recorded footage of me playing and AoE leveling on the account I was banned on for “hacking”.
(Sorry, it says on the forums that I’m unable to post links on this thread. Feel free to message me here to view their posts. Most are trying to get their accounts back but some have been unbanned.)
Again, please be careful if you are a part of any SM, Mara, or ZF AoE farm groups. This last ban wave might have gotten a lot of legit farming bots but the number of real players that got caught in this crossfire is massive! BE CAREFUL!
sounds frustrating I hope it gets resolved for you and the other people affected. I’m not really surprised. They tend to ban everyone but the hackers, and bots.
EDIT: You should probably move this to CS or if it’s too late to move it make a thread there.
Sorry, it doesn’t allow me to post multiple links within a single post it seems. Nor does it allow me to spam the links one-by-one without someone else posting first. Again feel free to DM me and I have over 12 different posts regarding this. Mainly making this post here for a warning to everyone else that is playing as well as trying to get myself and everyone else wrongfully perm banned to be unbanned.
This shouldn’t be a thing even, that players who are at no fault need to chase down Gms to get someone actually look at their situation. Players who just want to have fun and are paying customers.
What about those who aren’t as active in online forums. WoW player base their customers deserve a better system, where there is actual people replying to their issues via ingame tickets, specially one as final as this.
I hope you get your acc back asap, what a sad day for WOW.
Why is the hell does blizzard just not TELL YOU what they banned you for. They can’t just be saying “hacks”. Tell us the exact files or processes in memory, and their details, checksum, etc, that is detected on the computer.
When players got banned in some popular shooter games the bans literally say: HACK DETECTED: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Hack\Hack.exe
Surely Blizzard’s warden anti-cheat can spit out that information for the all-to-commonly falsely accused players to corroborate their findings.
Its lame cuz I got to 60 by aoe farming. Fast and efficient. On mage. Their anti bot software actually just searches for the same buttons being pressed over and over again to find the “bots”. And to get gold sometimes one of my mages will aoe farm still. But…we get banned but the bots dont…alrighty then. What a company.
Unfortunately the same thing happened to me and some other mage friends this evening. We were in the middle of an SM spell cleave and had our accounts closed for hacking. Hopefully someone from blizzard can look into this mess and get the real players their accounts back and ban the actual bots.
As much as I am against all your activities in the past few days and I think they should nerf the crap out of aoe farming and even if you abused the mobs pathfinding, which you surely did at least in that solo ZF, none of that is against the terms of service atm. I do hope they get rid of that one day, but that’s irrelevant.
That being said, assuming you are honest n you haven’t used any illegal automation, we can assume your behavior n hours of playing closely replicated the behavior of a bot n that’s why you were flagged. If you have opened a ticket with customer service, I am pretty sure your ban will be lifted soon.
