Warmode….how I love to hate thee.

While I love the little boost to XP we get from you…I hate that many see it as a “COME GANK ME OVER AND OVER AGAIN” sign that can be seen across the continent.

I usually see others in warmode while leveling, and give them their space. They want the same thing I do. To level in peace and be left alone to level. But this expansion….it’s just gotten BAD!

I now see entire PACKS of 90’s…mostly Horde….rolling through the zones looking for those in warmode and descending upon them like a plague of locusts. Last week, I was set upon by a 90 Blood DK, Gruardian Druid, Frost Mage, and Marksman Hunter….as if a level 81 Paladin was ANY challenge or menace to them. And it didn’t end with just one attack.

Or two….or three.

In fact….it didn’t end at all.

They followed me. Over and over again….even going so far as to camp my corpse, and as soon as I popped back into the land of the once again living…..they immediately un-alived me once more.

It is the kind of behavior that makes me wonder if growing up, these might have been the kinds of kids who enjoyed pulling the wings off flies and burning ants with magnifying glasses. You know…a real life version of Sid from the first Toy Story film. The kind of kids that just want others to be miserable.

So I did the only left to do. I logged out.

It used to be when situations like this…the griefing…was frowned upon by all, admins and GM’s included. But now…it seems that the common attitude it “meh…deal with it”, or the more callous “get better and survive”..as if one could do so in a 1 v 4 situation where you are vastly overpowered and overgeared by your opponent.

So I say unto the GM’s….hear our pleas. Listen to the cries of the many when griefing is called. Do not dismiss us so blithely into the night. Do not marginalize the brave souls willing to venture into the world only to be savaged ruthlessly by lawless minds and then victim-blame those who seek justice.

Do not forsake us, oh mighty GM….give us hope that there is still justice in an unjust world!

So let me see if i get this OP.

You turned the World PvP mode and got PvP’d in the World?

That’s not a valid complaint, don’t want to be ganked? Turn Warmode off all the way.

Looking back, I can’t help but feel like the xp boost Warmode gives was a massive mistake as it draws in non-pvpers just looking to level a bit faster. If you’re going into Warmode it should be for its own sake.

No offense intended toward the op. I simply can’t help but feel like I’ve seen some incaranation of this story many times over the years (and experienced it myself a couple times, as I also used to use WM for the xp early on), and I figured I’d use this an opportunity to but my opinion of the adjacent topic in.

Funnily the chinese titan reforge servers have pvp protection if you have a 5 level difference with forced realm balance with everyone getting the same level of resilience, so basically pvp has a dmg reduction baseline you don’t need pvp gear for that.

I wouldn’t bother with war mode unless you go to Voidstorm or more spread out areas, especially if it’s just for an xp boost.

I did war mode again yesterday for my last bit of leveling and got ganked while herbing, with 1000xp left to 90. It kinda robs you of that satisfying moment when you ding 90.

I’m probably not bothering with it the rest of the season.

Honestly in WRA it’s the polar opposite. it’s 99% alliance. it’s the god awful sharding. There’s so much that can be improved and they wont.

Lol, I play hero in Warmode.

Never ganking others unless they attack me first, but if I see someone getting attacked, I’ll jump in to their defense.

Or, if I see a lowbie getting attacked.

And I never attack lowbies myself, unless they attack me and won’t let go for whatever reason.

Have become a master at escaping fights I’m not interest in, or large-scale ganks.

Once flew on top of a Horde raid that was trying to get a crate, I was the only Alliance there.

Popped Aspect of the Turtle, taunted them with the pirate book of swears toy, they chased me and got me low, I Feigned Death, they fell for it (lol) and I sprung up and backwards-Disengage’d off a cliff, popped my glider, had a few chase me but I immediately Camouflage (stealth) and I’m gone lol.

I love to play with people like that, not really killing but having them chase me around lol.

All I do on my rogue is sap them, uncloak and wave or something, some people just take things a tad too seriously, especially in war mode.

I (almost) never gank lowbies because I know they’re just leveling and have no chance, so I think it’s kinda scummy. That being said world PvP is what it is and often attracts people who don’t want a fair fight.

I’d say maybe they could add a temporary stacking stat debuff to discourage camping lowbies but no doubt someone will find a way to exploit and grief max level players by running into their aoe or some such shenanigans.

While I enjoyed the quality of your post, I reject this. Of the approximately 100,000 posts I’ve seen over the years involving “ganking lowbies” the phrase that always answered the complaint (including from blues) was “pvp happened on a pvp server”. And the solution was always to call your friends.

“PvP problems have PvP solutions” is an official Blizzard stance, when they killed all the PvP servers I thought we’d stop getting this kind of thread but no apparently people will always complain about PvP happening even if they explicitly opted in.

To be fair, it’s opted in for the exp bonus for a lot of people. If they didn’t provide that, it’d ONLY be pvpers doing war mode

Ummm, that’s not the purpose of war mode dude. Warmode is all about “if it red, it’s dead” or like you said…

The xp bonus is designed to compensate for your many deaths leveling in a war zone.

It’s war man, turn it off for peace.

I love world pvp but it’s been pretty bad cause of all the tanks and healers squads.

The topic and the fact that the OP has not commented at all in response to others since they posted, makes me think this is bait.

Topic: I got ganked and I hate it, make it stop. The responses: as expected.

Hence the whole bait thing.
