Warmode/World PvP RIP 2018-2018

So just throwing it out there, just noticed no horde are in war mode anymore since Alliance got the buff and there is no real reward. Thanks Blizzard

You all have had a free 10% bonus pretty much since BFA launched. And the bonus is base on population not your faction. But of course most of horde spent the last month saying there isn’t a faction imbalance, so to say the bonus is an Alliance bonus is to admit there is an imbalance between the too.

From Blizz - “Every weekly reset the system looks at participation in War Mode during the previous week and will adjust the bonuses”

If no Horde were in War Mode, then Horde would get the buff.

Try reading.

More like; On the third patch they rose again. Last night, on my shard there were packs of people everywhere. Horde and Alliance. Not just big raids either. There was beef to be had in the most random of places. Good times.

Was seeing horde all day long. lots of pvp. Was so fun stomping horde into the dust.

Now…with that said. Ya warmode needs to be worked on. There was at times today massive lagging, shard jumping, bizarre phasing, and more going on, it’s just buggy and weird, and unbalanced.

Like I put in the other thread, the increased Alliance participation is awesome. The problems I really have with the system are

  1. The server lag. The game is trying to rapidly auto reshard to balance things that it leads to disruption in the gameplay, getting pulled out of fights and thrown into another, and rampant lag. Many zones have had extreme server side delays since BFA launched which appear to be from sharding constantly reshuffling players around, and the zones with war mode used to be the more stable. With more participation, the servers are going absolutely bonkers. 2 second delays on your attacks with perfect ping is odd, and if you ask in the zone, everyone will respond saying they’re having it too, even in the non assault zones and older content like Legion zones.
  2. Pendulum swinging. The server detection on which side gets what percentage buff needs to happen more frequently than once a week. All the current system is going to result in is each faction having a week where they control the game instead of an actual stable and balanced combat experience. Horde feels greatly outnumbered this week with the Alliance going out in droves for the 30% and the Horde just not wanting to bother. Next week, if this keeps up, the Horde will have the buff and lock down the zones excessively while the Alliance says screw it and waits til the next week.

Last night me and my guild did the quests in Zuldazar for the battlefront gear caches. They were TONS of fun! I sure hope this reward system is equalized on the horde side, at the very least next week! We definitely need to dominate faction participating as well, and able to earn these rewards.

Also the lag is a concern of mine as well, I sure hope the latency issues can be resolved when more players show up to participate in the war.

Hunh?! I leave it on on principle.

Blizzard has no idea what to do about normal servers. The rp realms are pretty even though.

  • no horde in wm
  • Alliance still has 30% meaning they were heavily out numbered
    Really made me

So far there has been no “””””pendulum swinging””””” as Alliance has had the 30% bonus 2 weeks in a row because we are heavily outnumbered

Warmode has now devolved into turning WM when the opposite faction gets the buff. With it being 30% the side with the 10% can just wait a week and then catch up on lost progress easy the following week once they get the 30% buff as it goes to whoever has the least players in WM. Eventually the Meta will turn into which side can turn it off the fastest before reset. Dumb solution imo

The Sharding System absolutely screws this whole thing up. Horde and Alliance are not being funneled correctly in to zones where PVP is happening. Organized Alliance raids which are actually broken up in to numerous 5 mans are everywhere. I turned WM off one day and was unimpressed to see I was still left in the same Shard of Drustvar meaning I was still part of the Horde player count in that zone effectively destroying any idea of balance. This means if a Zone has 200 members of each faction lets say 180 Ali are in WM about 100 of the Horde are in WM and the rest are not. Now we consider roughly 20 to 40 of those Alliance are organized this makes an organized retaliation VERY unlikely.

Warmode should simply be a way to opt in our out of WPVP and nothing more. The bonuses should not be a blanket gain to any type of EXP or AP. It should be self contained with there being quests or events which incentivize WPVP and great bonuses for real participation not just toggling a mode on which offers a blanket bonus. Daily Slayer quests would be a good way to promote PVP which could offer and aray of rewards similar to emissaries.

Blizzard once again have shown disconnect from the player base by implementing a change that is counter productive to direction most players think the system should be taking. The answer Blizzard and customer support has been offereing to those getting ganked in there own cities or while out and about is to “Turn off War mode” which is again counter intuitive to what we want from the system. Blizzard want MORE people participating in WPVP yet there answer to the design flaw presented by increasing an outnumbered factions rewards and sharding issues is to tell players NOT to WPVP. Funny enough this is exactly what is happening Horde Players are turning War mode off in Mass instead of pulling together to counter the threat.

The system has been broken since day one and the latest patch dose the exact opposite of improve the system.

  • Take away the Enlisted Bonus entirely

  • Work on Improving Sharding technology to better group players together in a world with there communities, Guild Members, Friends and Server population

  • Add Daily WPVP Objectives similar to emissaries that are rewarding PVP gear, AP, Honor, and war resources which will mirror the PVE reward model. Dedicated players get greater reward for more play and have 370 gear here and there to incentivise players try it out

These are all positive changes that will only enhance the WPVP experience with the little impact to the games over all progression structure.

Yup. It will be a like a see saw. You log into Tuesday, ask around if it is Horde or Alliance week for the 30% debuff and then switch on or off your war mode.

Either there should be no bonus whatsoever for enabling war mode, or war mode should not be a toggle, it should be on at all times for all players. You can’t keep pretending that wow is a single player game.

If the alliance as a whole toggles off war mode, then blizzard should just write the story such that they lose the war, stormwind burns just like the free, and the boy king dies to be risen as forsaken.

I get that Alliance players weren’t using warmode and Blizzard wanted them to. This isn’t the way to do it though. All you’re doing is once again screwing over the Horde as you love to do so much. (Particularly in pvp) At this point it’s just par for the course for Blizzard and their horrible decisions with their games as a whole.
