So im trying to figure out when I have WM off I see loads of Horde with (I assumed) WM on there names are in Orange. Example in the Vale or Uldum recently, was in Nazjatar, etc… Ive been told WM on and WM off shard/phase doesn’t mix. Im just trying to figure out are these guys in warmode or not? Are they just flagged? Im looking for the official blizzard word here on identifying players flagged, in WM, etc… not opinions ive got plenty of those lol
Ty in advance.
If you in carebear mode you can tell if someone is flagged by a symbol next to their character portrait, but iirc when you aren’t in a sanctuary they are always orange to you.

You can’t identify if someone is in war-mode on or off by looking at their nameplate. That only lets you determine if the other player is flagged for PvP or not.
In any case, here’s the breakdown:
Blue name: Same faction player, not flagged for PvP.
Green name: Same faction player, flagged for PvP.
Orange name: Opposite faction player, not flagged for PvP.
Yellow name: Opposite faction player, flagged for PvP (only while you are not flagged for PvP yourself).
Red name: Opposite faction player, flagged for PvP (only while you are also flagged for PvP).
Sanctuary zones override this and force everyone’s names to be blue, regardless of faction or PvP status.
War mode is seperate, and forcibly limits your player to player interactions to green names (same faction, flagged for PvP) and red names (opposite faction, flagged for PvP), barring some extremely limited circumstances (like watching a cutscene, which temporarily deflags the player, even in war mode) or sanctuary zones.

I mean if you have warmode off, then they have warmode off.
