Been doing lots of pve content lately mount farming in Argus etc so I thought why not turn warmode off, and I find warmode off is a real pain, sometimes up to 20 people sucking out all the kills of the area , undergeared parasites waiting for you to kill the rares etc.
So I turned warmode on again and never looked back, now if I see one of those around I stomp them.
My issue with warmode is when I’m in the world it’s for very specific reasons. Emmisaries are up, weekly boss needs killed, need to go to mythic+, etc. The only time I’m not in a city is when I need to go from point A to point B and war-mode just wastes time. When I want to fight people I grab my buddy and do 2’s or 3’s. If i’m alone I queue BGs and skirmishes. I think warmode is the least productive form of a PvP.
I would support the danger argument if it was balanced for what so ever. There is a difference between a zone being dangerous because players can atk you vs “If this class attacks you or he has this gear your automatically dead with near 0 counterplay”.
The other issue I have is the zones are too small for war mode imo. Every fight is basically a 1v1 until which faction happens to stroll by going for a world quest. There are many times your just locked out of a region because the other faction is camping the quests around there and there just isn’t anyway to get around them without stealth because the map is way too small.
it makes sense to those of us who rolled on a PvP server when we first started playing the game not realizing how infantile some players can be. Kill me once, shame on me…kill me with four of ones buddies and camp the body and the nearest graveyard and one is a pathetic player who cant compete with the big boys of real PvP play and are just trying to validate ones existence.
That got real annoying real quick. I moved to a pvP server just to be able to quest.
With WM I can play on any server I want to play on and if I want to PvP I can turn WM on. If I dont want to pvP I can turn it back off.
I really dont see what the complaints are.
The only people who should be complaining about WM are the ones who like to gank lowbies and want them FORCED to be victims.
The players who want to PvP will have it turned on. The players who dont, wont.
Seems like it works out perfect to me.
For the most part I agree, for PVE servers. For PVP servers, ganking and griefing is part of the game. I’d go as far as to say the most important part of the game as that is all that distinguishes it from a PVE server.
ok…and WM is exactly the same.
Players who WANT to PvP will have WM on.
Those who dont want to PvP will have it off.
The only players who should be complaining here are the ones who WANT to gank lowbies and dont want them able to not be the defensless victims.
If one wants to pvP against other players who actually want to pvp then WM is the perfect solution.
Right. For PVE servers. The problem is that servers used to be classified PVE and PVP servers and now PVP servers are gone. Only PVE servers now so those of use who originally rolled PVP for unmitigated destruction and chaos, had our game taken away from us.
I dont understand that at all.
So the players who didnt WANT to PvP…and cant afford to transfer…now have the option to not be victims.
Again…the only players that would dislike that seem to be gankers.
Whats wrong with letting players who dont want to pvp but cant afford the transfers just turn PvP off?
Warmode fractured the population. I understand not everyone wanted to wpvp all the time, but if you have never played in the pre-warmode pvp servers, you’re actually not going to understand the community and how warmode and sharding destroyed that community. Sharding mainly, but warmode was to blame too.
Ultimately people got tired of fighting 1v2s in the open world and simply toggled warmode off, leaving the open world more and more of a ghosttown.
Nothing. They should have been given free transfers to a server they belonged on.
Instead, Blizzard took a baseball bat to the PVP servers and demolished what we originally signed up for. Do you not see the problem with harming someone else to fix your own problem when there is a way to fix the problem without harming either?
And to top it all off, Warmode was functionally already in the game on PVE servers. It was always possible to flag yourself for PVP on PVE servers if you wanted. Literally what Blizzard did was delete PVP servers and throw a PR campaign around an existing feature, branding it new and calling it “Warmode”.
In essence, Blizzard gave you the transfer to PVE server, and everyone else too regardless of whether they wanted to transfer to PVE or not. I hope that helps explain some of the frustration from PVP players.
No, we don’t. We have PVE servers. The current state of the game is exactly how PVE servers have always worked.
The whole point of a PVP server was that pvp happens any time, any place, with or without warning, no consent required. This is no longer in the game. PVP servers no longer exist and thus my choice to roll on a PVP server rather than a PVE server was rendered irrelevant. This is the issue.
