Warmode is a Little Lonely

I hate having to turn warmode off so I can do the Storm’s Fury event in the primalist future. This is the only thing about warmode that actually bothers me.

I did it once having to work together with Alliance who are doing splash damage to me and some of 'em are killing me, and the one other Hordie was grudge killing Allies, and that was fun. But most of the time, I’m just completely alone. Realistically if I have to wait 2 hours to do it in warmode, or 10 minutes to do it out of warmode, I’ll just go to Thal and flag it off, then back on when I’m done. But it feels cruddy.

Now, this is not me disliking warmode. I love warmode. But no one will be there. No one will be anywhere. I’m not geared, I’m an easy target, and I see an Ally and get killed only very occasionally. I see another Horde… like… never.

I am definitely NOT saying increase the rewards so more people do it. If anything, I feel bad flying around getting more stuff for, about 98% of the time, absolutely nothing. But I like the idea of random danger and I’m not going to turn it off because I feel the rewards are worth more than the effort I’m putting in.

Bottom line is nobody is ever around, especially others on my faction.

This is not a very serious suggestion but this is kind of going to be how it stays unless they change the game on the overworld and give the undergeared a chance. Maybe through earning unique PvP abilities you can only use in the overworld. Like, just break the overworld with some crazy stuff like Torghast powers that are permanent, but only for the overworld. I don’t see them doing this nor do I really want it, but I am lonely because it’s rare to see another player.

Edit: This is a serious suggestion: How about… just don’t split the playerbase? If I can see everybody but only those in warmode can kill one another, how can I, or anyone else, possibly hurt them? Will seeing me get ganked break the non-warmode guy’s brain? Tagging would be simple: If a non-wm tags it, anyone can get credit. If a wm tags it, all non-wm can get credit, as well as all wm of that faction, just not wm of the other faction. And to preserve the rewards for being a jerk, if you die to a player, you do not keep your tag.

You mean almost no one is doing a public event from about two major patches (one year) ago? Say it ain’t so!

Working as intended.

Warmode is terrible for public events for the reasons you have pointed out. There is nothing can be done about that.

Killing each other while trying to do a specific objective out in the world is counter-productive.

It’s very productive if your intent was to kill and not do the objective

I don’t really use warmode anymore myself since it’s typically just so barren, even in recent content. Then when I turn it off, the world is suddenly heavily populated by players.

The vast majority of MMO players don’t want to be bothered with open world pvp. Even the hardcore arena and BG folks usually want to leave it in the arena.

There are some promising looking new games coming out that are clinging to an open world pvp design. The games look good otherwise, but they are going to learn the hard way that most mmo players don’t want open world pvp.

This explains me in PvP. Maybe I could join you in Warmode and have awkward combat?

You think that’s lonely? Try warmode in Dead Wind Pass. You’ll be so alone you’ll start to fee like you got dumped.

This is why PVP servers were nice, you could literally join a server where majority of people had a similar play style to you.
It’s why RP servers still exist too. Until they make an RP mode button and turn all servers into 1 big mega server and remove the lag of being around that many people.

Kind of glad they are changing WM so that it is true war and you can attack your own faction using WM in TWW.

You mean like how the Alliance got all the rewards and the Horde got none? Yessss…funny how the Horde decided to go, given they were the traditional PvP faction.

They went to Classic–especially SoD–in case you’re wondering. Why don’t you get on Crusader Strike server and get some Runes?

That’s what killed WPvP. They should have never been remitted. And Chromie Time made it even worse.

So yes, War Mode feels the way it does on purpose: you’re in the wrong place discussing this issue with the wrong people. The right place is on the Classic Bloc and the right people are there CONTINUALLY raiding cities and towns every weekend.

This. Exactly this. No one is around.

I mean, this is a good argument for making world PvP different, maybe with stuff you only earn on the overworld, for the overworld. The elite arena folks won’t be offended if they’re not doing it anyway.

Oh, woah, where was this stated?

MMO’s are a tiny part of the videogame industry. PvP MMO’s are a tiny part of that market. Basically, most people have limited time to play, and they don’t want to have that time wasted.

Hardcore PvP games are not nearly as popular as their fans think they would be. New World was supposed to be a hardcore game, right up until the alpha test when testers told them what a mistake it was to do that. They ended up reworking the game repeatedly.

Really? Horde won’t leave me alone basically ever. Even just when I land to mind fast they’ll attack.

Night elf. unwritten rule

searching… seek and destroy.

Well after about 7 of you join in I’ll finally die.

But I admire horde dedication. Had some around 500k hp attacking me in blood spec lol. Silly geese.

Only 7 players to take down a DK? I’m not sure I believe it.
