Warmode Day. (Monthly Event)

Key Features of Warmode Day

  1. All Servers Become PvP Servers:
  • The First Monday of every month, all World of Warcraft servers (regardless of their usual designation as PvE, PvP, or RP) activate a universal PvP mode, similar to the game’s existing War Mode system. This cannot be toggled off.
  • Players are automatically flagged for PvP, meaning Alliance and Horde players can engage in combat anywhere in the open world, except in designated safe zones (see below).
  • This creates a high-stakes environment where faction conflict is emphasized, encouraging players to team up and engage in world PvP.
  • LFG is disabled.
  1. Major Cities Lose Permanent Sanctuary Status:
  • Major cities, such as Dalaran, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or other faction hubs, are no longer permanent sanctuaries. This means players can be attacked by the opposing faction within these cities.
  • For example, a Horde player in Dalaran could be ambushed by Alliance players, turning these typically safe zones into contested battlegrounds.
  • This change heightens the sense of danger and faction rivalry, as players must remain vigilant even in areas traditionally considered safe.
  1. Neutral Cities and Outposts on a Timer:
  • Neutral cities and outposts (e.g., Shattrath, Booty Bay, or other shared hubs) operate on a timed system to accommodate PvE-focused players.
  • These locations have a 1-hour reprieve period during which PvP combat is disabled, making them temporary sanctuaries for players who prefer to avoid PvP.
  • After the 1-hour safe period expires, these areas become open to PvP combat again, allowing the opposing faction to engage in battles.
  • The timer resets periodically throughout the day, ensuring regular windows of safety for PvE players to complete quests, trade, or go AFK browsing the appearance tab.

Why?

  1. PvP. Faction focus could change to being guild focused, or other exceptions. Possible Alternate.
  2. Just to remind everyone this is World of Warcraft.

Won’t be balanced.

  1. Probably, All PvP is this way. Not fun? It’s only one day of the month.

  2. Rewards for simply staying alive, so it’s possible that people will just hide, and big groups won’t bother spreading thin, or not. Cause kills gain rewards faster.

  3. If this was implemented there’s sure to be issues at the beginning anyways.

Nobody will participate/or like it.

  1. There’s rewards even if you’re AFK during the event.
  2. Again, only one day.

Still Though Why?

Look PvP isn’t getting any real traction or attention, just let PvP wreak havoc on this game. I get it nobody likes PvP that much, basically. Though having this in the game as a regular event nearly everyone doesn’t care for (like most events), at least it’s for PvP.

GJ ChatGPT

People secretly hate pvp servers and joined them because of ego or because that’s where their friends went.

Notice how most people who were on pvp servers have war mode off now? It’s because there aren’t any outside social pressures encouraging them to play in pvp mode anymore.

So forcing everyone into war mode but worse would be an awful choice.

I rarely ever see anyone without war mode on bud

That’s because outside of capital cities and sanctuaries you only see people who match your own war mode setting.

This idea is absolutely horrible and would do nothing to help world PvP in any way.
There’s a million other ways to promote organic world PvP fights without whatever this is.

Edit: Serious question but did you have a LLM write this? Because the modern retail game does not have PvP or PvE servers, making that sentence redundant and nonsensical as retail servers do not have a “usual designation”.
Also the modes are not PvE, PvP, or RP. I know, because I played on a RP-PvP server before warmode became a thing.

Why are you using Shattrath and Booty Bay as examples for this? Not only are both of those no longer relevant in the modern game, but they are not even comparable to each other.
Shattrath was the main capital city of an entire expansion, a sanctuary zone, and used by all players of level 60-70 throughout the Burning Crusade expansion as the main hub.
Booty Bay was a neutral town in the vanilla game and used by levels 30-45 players. It was in a contested zone (if on a PvP server) but had neutral guards.

If you used a LLM to write this you did not use the correct prompts, causing much of the information in your post to be inaccurate nonsense.

Seems those million other ways aren’t good enough though, otherwise you’d mention it. Right?

The way I see it, PvP is not going to go anywhere anyways. Nobody wants to queue for a long time. Any substantial overhaul that would bring PvE/New Players in does not exist. Plus even if it did(it doesn’t) most the PvP try-hards still around would keep PvPing even if there was only 2 maps, and no rewards besides maybe a title. Seriously.

All rewards extra wtv, those things people think would get more people into PvP…will only truly appeal to those players who already enjoy/enjoyed PvP. With very minimal new players that want an eel mount or something, like 1 out of 10000 at best.

Also note, if they never do anything with PvP the overwhelming majority of players, won’t care.

So what was the million other ways to promote organic world PvP?

I typed my idea into Grok.
Edit:bottom half was me writing, after the “WHY?”

Okay well I will say that using a LLM to help format your post isn’t necessarily a problem, but having a LLM write most of the post for you is because it’s going to be so inaccurate and wrong that it makes it hard to take seriously.

There’s so much wrong with the idea you posted that I don’t even know where to begin.

This would undermine player’s choice. Not everyone wants to play on a PvP server or be forced into warmode and doing something like this would betray the player’s trust.
Grok obviously doesn’t value player’s ability to choose their own game experience.

Why a Monday? If the goal is to make it a day where most people won’t interact with it, sure, but doesn’t that run counter to the goal of getting people to participate? It should be a friday or saturday at least. See Grok doesn’t even know when most people play.

Like I mentioned before, retail WoW does not have PvE, PvP, or RP servers, and even when it did those were not the only server types (Grok is missing RP-PvP). Grok doesn’t know how WoW retail servers work.

Warmode is more like the old PvE servers than it is the PvP servers. On a PvE server you can essentially enter warmode by simply turning on PvP, which makes you perma flagged for PvP and allows you to attack others who are PvP flagged as well.
Grok doesn’t understand how warmode, PvE, and PvP server rulesets work.

So not similar to the game’s existing warmode system then?

So like warmode?

Like warmode?

This is horrible. You’re telling people they cannot play entire sections of the game for 1 day out of the month. No mythic+, no LFG raids, no world bosses, no group content, no achievement runs, nothing. Grok doesn’t understand that the LFG system is used for more than just doing world PvP content.

Grok doesn’t know that both Stormwind and Orgrimmar are not sanctuaries.
Also maybe ask Grok which version of Dalaran it means, as there are like 4 versions (one of them in not so great shape, mind you). Does Grok even know that Dalaran is destroyed?

Why is Grok obsessed with old expansion capital cities? Why doesn’t it mention the current capital?

Not what players sign up for.

Again, why is Grok obsessed with old faction towns? Reposting what I had posted earlier:
Why are you using Shattrath and Booty Bay as examples for this? Not only are both of those no longer relevant in the modern game, but they are not even comparable to each other.
Shattrath was the main capital city of an entire expansion, a sanctuary zone, and used by all players of level 60-70 throughout the Burning Crusade expansion as the main hub.
Booty Bay was a neutral town in the vanilla game and used by levels 30-45 players. It was in a contested zone (if on a PvP server) but had neutral guards.

But why one hour? And what if it doesn’t line up with when someone can play?
Remember, Grok is saying this happens on a Monday when most people have work or school. Your average WoW player will have only a few hours of playtime that day.

Did Grok really have to include this sentence? It seems redundant.

Did Grok mention how often? Are we talking about 12 times a day or twice a day?

This is such a weird sentence to include. Does Grok really think people frequently go AFK while browsing the appearance tab? And why would someone do this while on a limited one hour timer?

Here’s my point: If you use a LLM (whether it’s Grok or ChatGPT or whatever) to write a post for you, it’s going to spew out nonsense. It might look good enough on its surface to fool someone at a glance, but if you dive deeper into it it’s just based on really weird ideas that make no sense.
If you have an idea for the game, write it yourself.

Did you read this?

Please don’t try to deflect from the problems and inaccuracies in your original post.
I’d be happy to continue the discussion once those have been addressed.

Are you working for Blizzard? If not you answer my questions first and maybe I’ll go through what you post.

This is your idea. Well, technically it’s Grok’s idea that you copied to the forum, but regardless it’s not my job to defend it for you.
I have pointed out many of the mistakes in your original idea. It’s up to you if you’re going to address them or not. I spent enough of my own time writing out responses to your post that was just copy pasted from an LLM. I am not going to waste any more time if all you’re going to do is ignore the criticisms of your idea or if you’re just going to copy paste another response from an LLM.

That is your opinion. Well, technically it’s a long winded nothing that might as well have been copy pasted from an LLM. Regardless, it’s not my job to defend or answer questions for you.

Sloooow down! That’s way too much from someone who doesn’t play.

No. Just deal with WM being lame thanks to its players.
