Warmode Bonuses Should Be Adjusted Based On Servers

Seriously. For those that don’t know the bonus is supposed to be for how outnumbered your faction is. The catch is it isn’t equal across the board. Sure there are many horde dominated servers connected. But there are also alliance dominated server sections. RP section comes to mind for example, alliance outnumber them there.

The disparity is even more obvious when we get to OCE servers. Playing horde on OCE is like playing on hardmode and the alliance still gets double the warmode bonus. It makes no sense.

Surely it can’t be that hard to look at the connected servers, see the populations and adjust right? Make it a bit more fair for our horde lads that are actually the ones outnumbered in warmode on some of these connected servers.

This has been a major problem ever since warmode was introduced in BfA. I think it safe to say blizz will never fix it if they haven’t by now.

Warmode was just another failed implementation of a reasonable idea, with additional failed implementations ontop of it.

The fact that warmode at least is a permanent interaction with the game should be enough cause to fix it though, and it’s worrying that it’s not.

I don’t care if your other “expansion features” are broken and it’s not worth fixing, but warmode isn’t just an expansion feature, so why it’s treated as such is just beyond me.

You can change your RP status at any time by joining a group on an RP or non-RP server.

Your original server doesn’t even matter because you can join a group on any server.

Sometimes two guildmates or alts on the same server can both go to the same zone but end up on different shards. Conversely, two toons on different servers might end up on the same shard.

But Alliance can never turn into Horde—or vice versa—just by joining a group or entering a zone.

In other words, faction is the only thing you can’t change, and it would still be unfair to base the bonus on your original server when you could end up in a shard with drastically different faction ratios. Especially when we have to do so much grouping up in DF for the events and elite quests.

Speaking from experience, however, I do realize how unfair it is to be Horde in an Alliance-heavy shard and have to deal with all the grieving despite getting a lower bonus. Especially when the Against Overwhelming Odds quest is up, and all the Alliance pin your location in zone chat as a kill target, and you can’t even quest in peace.

In terms of region though it is somewhat different. The OCE region is simply vastly dominated by Alliance, irrelevant of shard.

Warmode for Horde in OCE is non-existent because noone is volunteering to enter a 1:10 ratio PvP shard for only a 10% benefit.

This is a pretty bad argument in my eyes as it can be used in the same exact fashion for the opposite outcome. Why have a bonus at all? Alliance players can always group with people on alliance dominated shards if they don’t like being outnumbered. As a matter of fact there were even guilds that did this very thing.

True. But again, once you group up with someone from another sever, it ceases to matter once your original server is NA or OCE.

Time zones also seem to play a factor. I tend to see a lot of Alliance players when it is AM in NA (thereby PM in OCE), but on weekends and in the middle of the night in NA, I see tons of Horde from Latin American servers.

To be truly fair, the bonus would have to be dynamic depending on the current ratio in the shard you are in.

The overall game has more Horde, and rather than let warmode become a Horde only thing, the devs are trying to encourage more Alli to do warmode to help even out the ratio.

If you do so that’s fair, but that means you are changing region to a shard hosted in a different location, by default you will never be sharded into a different region.

Similar to how other things like world buffs etc which are determined by the shard/world server, if you’re connected to an NA realm you get the NA appropriate buff, if you are connected to OCE, you get the OCE appropriate buff.

Well the shards were supposed to be dynamically balanced from the start according to their release statement, but…yeah…that never happened.

Warmode shouldn’t have any more than the 10% bonus everyone gets. But that’s just me, someone on Horde having to compete with a vastly larger Alliance presence (5:1 at least in Alliance’s favor) whenever WM is on and has never once seen an Against All Odds bonus outside of BG queues.
