Warmode and DF PvP gear

Yeah he was referring to ilevel upgrades because of warmode, not that gear wont scale in PvP in the open world while in warmode. You fundamentally lack understanding.

Alphon, I see you have been arguing your case for a long time, but everyone else sees right through you. You should just get over it. PvP gear will scale in WPvP, and your misunderstanding about what was said regarding warmode scaling is making you look dumb.

We can just come back to this thread whenever Dragonflight comes out or whenever it’s implemented in War Mode in beta.

Alright buddy, I’ll be fine admitting I’m wrong whenever it’s fully implemented. You better be doing the same.

You could equally say things like “this game has always about completing quests”, “this game has always been about playing different character roles” or “this game has always been about horde versus alliance”.

Wow is successful because it is many things and during its best eras it wasn’t trying to force everyone to love and partake in every part of it. None of the parts of wow I ever enjoyed involved character progression, it was always just in the way for me.

As far as I’m concerned, wow is about fighting other players in an open world, with a side of random battlegrounds. I only tolerate the rest of wow because it creates a reason for people to be in that open world in the first place.

“Gear should be gear” is just dogma.

Absolutely. I will ping this thread again when the completely obvious thing happens. PvP ilevel is PvP ilevel. It’s the same tech.

That’s for you, for me it’s involved character progression. Been playing this game since 2008, since I was 9 years old. Even 9 year old me understood the assignment, knew that this game was about character progression and making my character stronger. Grinded honor gear by doing random battlegrounds even if I wasn’t good at it. Even if I thought stamina was the best stat.

Might not be a huge part for you, but it is for me. It is for many others, the forums represent a minority of the player base because not everyone uses the forums, it’s half the reason Blizzard is introducing Twitter integration in WoW instead of forum integration.

Cool, see you then. I don’t know if you have beta or not but I play the beta every reset to see if anything has changed, I’ll update you the second something happens.

Yes, 9 years old aren’t known for their wide perspective. I started playing in 2005 and 27 years old me immediately saw PvE for the pointless treadmill that it was, existing only as a grind for increased power whose sole purpose it to grind even more power, with no real objective in the end.

If that is a huge part for you, there is an entire side of the game dedicated to it. It’s just not compatible with PvP.

Weird thing to say that it’s not compatible with PvP, if that were the case they would’ve equalized gear across the board years ago. Maybe not compatible with other games, but for an MMORPG like WoW, it is.

I’m just taking a look at how much more Classic WotLK is thriving compared to retail and character progression was huge here. So much so that PvP gear was locked behind rating, but yeah, totally not compatible with PvP despite people doing it. :dracthyr_shrug:

I’ll take look at the link on my home from work today. I’ll be happy if it is truly going back to the old system but I won’t hold my breath.

Wow I read this… and came to a very real conclusion that I’m old as ^%#@.

It is. PvP gear will be BiS in PvP with no rating requirements for the highest tier.

Warmode won’t automatically boost your ilevel though.

That’s it. That’s the system.

It’s the same tech that is currently used in SL, which detects PvP engagement and dynamically changes ilevel.

Haha, I’m only 23 now and I feel that way sometimes even though I know I’m still young.

Well ya it does.
But then again in warmode its always upgraded to the max ilvl you upgraded to.
I didnt understand your point, you believe in warmode my pvp rated gear wouldnt automatically be as the best it can? i need to fight a player? makes no sense imo.

This doesnt say much about conquest pvp gear though.

All i got from the 45 secs he talked about warmode pvp gear is that they dont want it as its in beta rn and they plan to change that to needing to upgrade which can be unlocked by having a rating.

I just dont see blizzard heavily favoring pvp crowd for world content lol.

This is actually how it was handled in WoD. It works rather well to keep pvp gear relevant for pvp but not trivialize pve gear for world content.

ya… thing is. Its pointless to work this way in warmode lol.

It is PvP gear. Warmode should not boost item level all the time. That just trivializes all open world content.

The way it will work is when a player attacks you or vise versa your PvP gear will boost up.

Warmode exists as an opt in open PvP shard that replaced PvP servers. Back in the day, with the same scaling gear, it didn’t boost up just because you played a PvP server.

You’re asking for PvP gear to be the best/easiest gear to use in open world PvE content, which is the opposite of the intended mechanics.

This is what I and others who share this sentiment really want. World content is already trivial in of itself especially once you get a PvP set anyway. We just want the scaling to work against other players. Rating gates are an archaic game mechanic with a plethora of issues and the arguments in favor of them are simply weak at best. They don’t belong in any sort of PvP. Very few people want to have to do rated in order to attain ilvl and only a small yet vocal minority want to keep them for some arbitrary reasons that don’t make a whole lot of sense.

By the way I’ve just started leveling my main again in the beta with SL pvp gear and now it does indeed work like in did in WoD: pvp ilevel kicks in as soon as you engage in pvp combat.

The last time I did this it was still working like in SL, with pvp ilevel always active in warmode.

Weird, there’s no mention of upgrade system in Dragonflight beta so far.

Wonder if they scrapped the upgrades.

There’s no mention of a lot of things, hopefully things will start showing in the next build.

Is this true!?
This will be huge for WPvP if true.

That last thing that needs to happen for PVP gear perfection, is a 4th stat on PVP gear (Something like PVP only versatility). Then we can get back to builds that include more interesting stat combinations than simply vers + one other.
