With debuff limit removed?
??? always have been.
they already were
DS/ruin will still be the top DPS spec. Corruption is trash without the talent points to make it instant. So you’ll be spamming shadow bolt. Only change is if there is 4 warlocks you might be allowed to cast curse of doom.
maybe see a few aff locks now
Warlocks always were good, There 3-4 curses benefited the raid and I think they did good dps not as much as mage or war, but they did raid. They should do more with corruption added and with the proc insta shadowbolt.
Biggest benefit to warlocks is that you’ll probably see more shadow priests in raids, who bring shadow weaving.
Otherwise, good luck being able to use curse of doom.
You can run SM/Ruin now and take advantage of Nightfall procs from Corruption ticks.
warlocks have always been viable. They still do less damage than mages, but you can press corruption now too without trolling your raid team. You still want a few for curses.
typically you just have a healer spec into shadow weaving, shadow priests beyond molten core do so little damage that bringing one is griefing your raid harder than just not having shadow weaving at all.
They always were but you still wont beat warriors and rogues.
I think you might see some SM/ruin warlocks using corruption for the nightfall procs, but reck is still going to be a priority curse followed by elements and then shadows. Maybe a fourth warlock could use agony but as you become more geared the value of dots will drop off since they don’t scale as well with spell power and don’t benefit from crits. The damage on siphon life is awful and scales poorly so you probably won’t see that being used except maybe on fights where the life drain from it actually matters like perhaps Sapphiron.
So I could maybe see corruption being thrown into the rotation if you’re SM/ruin otherwise the optimal DPS rotation will remain unchanged.
Your kinda correct… spriest do little damage because of a threat ceiling and lack of mana efficiently over time. But yes… this means low damage over the course of a fight.
Warlock discord already simmed it, sm/ruin is slightly better than before but doesn’t beat DS/ruin.
So it’s basically exactly the same. Dots just scale too poorly in vanilla.
Nothing to do with mana efficiency or threat, I was in a speed clearing guild in last classic, even with infinite mana you do less damage than the tank in naxx. You are actively griefing your raid playing shadow priest no matter what you do. Fights dont last long enough to be a problem as an alliance shadow priest for your mana. (especially if you grief the raid harder and get an innervate)
