Warlocks solo horrific visions

I’m a Demo lock and trying to solo horrific visions as I’m a more casual player. Because of this I’m not in all heroic raiding gear and I’m only ilvl 432. Especially in stormwind I get nearly nothing accomplished. I can only clear one zone and that usually takes me 3 orbs to do. The damage isn’t an issue, I never take much damage, and kill things quickly when I’m actually able to attack. The problem is that every mechanic seems to prevent me from casting so I spend most of my time being knocked around, running around, or trying to get a shot in on a tentacle before it burrows, but I normally can’t get more than one spell off in the time so it just drags on.

Should I just give up on playing the rest of this expansion on a caster class? I’m in school so I don’t have the time to dedicate to becoming a heroic raider just to be able to do horrific visions.

My gear is only slightly better then yours at 437. I can clear the main area and the dwarf section solo with 3 orbs.

Only thing I can of is to anticipate the mechanic. I run demo as well,
Don’t be afraid to pop your tyrant to help push through.

I open with casting stalkers, then vile fiend and then imps. Usually they eat everything while I dodge mechanics.

Hope it helps or gives reassurance it’s doable and to stick with your caster.

That’s about as far as I can get as well. I can clear the Dwarven District, then the boss, if I use all 3 orbs fairly easily. I can clear the Trade District and boss, but only just barely. My main hangup are the tentacles that just take forever to kill because they spend so little time above ground, and the jailer who keeps stunning me and holding me in high damage areas. My big problem is I definitely can’t clear the trade district and the dwaren district in the same run to get 2 pages.

for the burrowing tentacle dickbag, stay in melee of him, iirc he burrows when his target isnt in range, so try and get on top of him and see if it helps.

First, I’d recommend using an AoE major essence. I don’t have Essence of the Focusing Iris, but I’ve been running Purification Protocol major. It’s quite powerful, especially since nearly everything in there is an aberration. I found VoP major too random and it really only increases your ST damage.

As for tentacles, can they be stunned? I can’t remember. They’re easily the biggest pain I’ve run into, though.

wat

i just remember hearing that they burrow based on proximity to target, that could be wrong, hence why i said see if it helps, if not hes a demo lock he hardly takes damage anywys

Sorry, was mostly just stunned because that’s super useful information.

for the tentacles, save your axe toss/shadowfury and mortal coil to keep them CC’d so they don’t burrow.

also I highly recommend power siphon/inner demons and soul strike. the combo of inner demons and power siphon will give you more casts of demonbolt to use while moving and soul strike is another global you can use during movement.

You can look up videos on youtube of other warlocks full clearing horrific visions to get a general idea of how to do it and what builds and talents to run.

General advice as others have said are aoe essences and trinkets. Use mortal coil as a pseudo interrupt.

If you can get your hands on more azerite pieces, try running x3 Explosive potential build, helps with cast time issues.

It also depends on how far into your research tree you are, the trait that gives you 500 sanity when you die/lose sanity is kind of like half an orb so really you go in with 3.5 orbs as an example.

Definitely don’t give up on it. While visions generally favour melee dps, out of all the casters i’d say demo locks are the best since we have a tank pet and we take passive reduced damage.

Seriously, this is freaking awesome, I didn’t know this, thank you!

I don’t have Essence of the Focusing Iris either, I have a hard time getting into any mythics. I’m using Vision of Perfection as my main right now, would it be better to run Purification Protocol?

I’ve got the ability that brings me back, and 1 level of finding chests. I’ll look up Youtube videos and see what I can find.

Thanks everyone.

UPDATE: I tried using these tips, watching some video’s, and doing these runs. Every video I can find where they do more than just put their runs to music with no information were all like 10 ilvl higher than me, which I’m guessing is why they can pull an entire room and aren’t nearly instantly killed while doing it. No one showing what talents or essences they’re using for Demo, and I don’t have enough extra gear to switch to Destro for the runs. I tried fighting tentacles in melee range, but sadly fire kept throwing me outside of melee range and they’d burrow again.

Update 2: Ok, I gave in and went Destro, which I haven’t done since BC. I respeced all my azerite gear, and got the recommended talents. It’s truly insane the different it makes going Destro. I was able to almost fully clear 2 zones. Still working on getting my rotation down better so i’m sure that will improve.

Pretty much my experience. Demo’s more fun, Destro’s more better. Then again, maybe I’m just not very good at Demo. Might try out Aff today just for the helluvit, see what that’s like.

I do great in raids as Demo, but in Visions I feel like I hit like a wet noodle. Maybe it’s just the lack of up time, and having a harder time casting with Demo’s longer spells. Plus Destro has much more consistent AOE.

Also, if you are not needing the 430 drop from the final boss, you still get pages from just clearing the zones. No need to also kill the final boss.

Horrific visions are notoriously difficult as a warlock, but this is due to the class design on blizzard’s part. Personally, I believe the warlock “5-man” tuning in BFA is one of the biggest failures to date. Low mobility, no instant casts (movement affects our throughput too much), and lack of an interrupt.

As a fellow Demo Lock I have full cleared Orgrimmar solo with zero masks, although it felt a bit sketchy. For stormwind I’ve only managed 4/5 areas, with the Mage District boss, Magister umbric, proving rather difficult, as we do not have an interrupt for his spells, mainly his polymorph.

I do hope we get some instant abilities that do decent damage to help with our mobility in Shadowlands. But judging by recent Blizzard releases, it will probably be another dumpster xpac.

I played Demo for HV run who is 460 ilvl and was able clear 4/5 wing by myself.

Might be a gear issue. Would recommend not getting disheartened by comparing yourself to armed-to-the-teeth streamers.
Having said that, I’m destro & I solo’d 2 runs last week where I could manage 4/5. I normally run with friends so have upgraded my right half of the tech-tree. If I had the bonus dps & extra life definitely could’ve tried the 5th. Used purification protocol major with vision minor. The voidwalker pet was very useful to keep aggro, and the infernal helped keep damage on the boss even when you’re busy with mechanics. Ghastly Goulash for food, normal flask & rune.
I actually thought demo would be better because of faster access to burst windows.

Once you get the Gift of the Titans talent from MOTHER’s Research, you can easily full clear HV by yourself.

Absolute Corruption and have Voidwalker tank everything?
