I’ve done a lot of research in the Class I wanted to play during classic. I thought i wanted to play a rogue, but looking more and more into the lore and over game play I think Warlock would be really fun to play. Can anyone give me any insight on the class itself? Maybe some insight on the levels of them. Do groups want them in Dungeon PvE and and PvP? I was reading that they were a little rocky in Raids until ZG. Thanks all!
warlocks put up consistent numbers in PvE, pets were quite a big addition to classes in terms of helpfulness in vanilla so that is valued, as well as being a CC train and DR restrictions werent as harsh in vanilla so the fear train is real…mount quest, pet quest also give added investment to the class so it can get down right sentimental considering all that you work for…10/10, you chose well
Warlocks are strong. only thing i dislike is a warlock in a raiding guild will be the one that puts in the extra time. shard farming kinda sucks but all in all it is fun to play them.
You’ll definitely be wanted in raids for curses and summons alone. The only downside I’ve read really is having to farm soul shards before raiding. Other than that it’s very a very versatile class
Good way to not worry about this is just farm while you are out farming and put shards in the bank. Take em out before raid. Hella less stressful.
yup 2 full bags always on stand by
Classic warlock for the most part is an inferior mage, but you’ll get slots just fine. Play one if you want. Guilds are not going to turn you down because you didn’t roll mage.
yeah raids will always have a min of 3 just for the curses. Its must have.
Pros -
Free lvl 40 mount, absolutely destroys most classes in pvp once geared and great at leveling. Wanted in dungeons and raids as they offer a ton of utility with summoms, soulstone, healthstones, must have curses and imp hp buff that is huge for the tank. Alliance Locks will be heavily desired. Quite a few pvp specs to choose from.
Cons -
Lack of + hit from talents and threat reduction vs mage from talents. Threat is a huge deal, gotta keep a close eye on it as there are no way of dropping it besides stop casting Shadowbolt. Shards are a little annoying but manageable with bank space but at least they don’t disappear after logging out like mage food. Unpredictable dps due to little + hit gear.
Up Sides:
Very fast to level, heavily sought after for summoning, since stones don’t work. Easy to gear (especially Teir sets) as they are a very uncommon class in raids. All Teir sets look amazing, fairly simple damage rotation, free mount at 40, pet to tank for you
Down Sides:
Very dot reliant for damage. Mediocre overall dps. Dots take debuff slots on bosses, all healers (pallys included), priests and mages will fight you for non Teir drops, haphazard talent trees,( you won’t ever hit their bottom due to poor design), soul shard farming.
Overall:
Play what you want, and f$&@ the haters!
