Warlocks and gold

You forgot Unending Breath which is awesome.

While an awesome spell indeed, I wouldn’t consider it a frequently used spell. I don’t think I’ve used it since the naga quests in Desolace. I’ve actually used Banish more often on various demon and elemental pets some casters have.

While i prefer the dark pact succubus style, it’s not accurate to say voidwalker is worthless. IF you can become adept at fear juggling, here’s what you do.

send void on target A, dot it up
dot up target B, fear it
switch to A, which void has had time to gain threat on, wand it to death
wand B to death

You want to maximize your MP5 with this technique so keeping up your wand progression is important.

If you’re going drain tank, forget about wands and MP5 once you hit 40. You want to stack shadow power- as much shadow power as you can. Shadoweave and Felweave sets as you level are great for this, but ALWAYS be on the lookout for cheap shadow wrath gear on the AH.

I use it all the time.

Thank you all for the replies! Its helps a lot! I think the only change I’m making is i’m going to go on a pvp server instead. I’m expecting to get my butt kicked but I really like pvp servers.

I am really digging Warlock so far and I really am super thankful for all the advice.

I use Unending Breath while we kill things in ZG so people with 300 fishing can fish up the stuff for the fishing boss. Also use it in MC during the Garr fight. More trash buffs on at the start of the fight, the longer you might have the good buffs before they get stripped.

The voidwalker is a good pet most people just don’t know how to use him. If you start casting destruction spells and your voidwalker has taunt on auto cast he will never regen mana and lose aggro.

Send in your voidwalker, have him taunt the mob, start dotting and wanding. You have to taunt the mob as soon as the voidwalker loses aggro. Bubble boy won’t go oom, can tank 2-3 guys easy, can regen his own health, and will save your life from ganking.

Hey, I used this leveling guide, it was a lot of great information on what spells not to buy and different approaches you can take in terms of talents when leveling. Hope it’s helpful.

Also if you are still considering rolling horde on a pvp server, I’d recommend Sulfuras, It’s decently populated but not too high. Pretty good horde/alliance ratio as well. Good luck!

Succubus is the better pet for leveling but on a pvp server as an Alliance lock you’ll be close friends with your Voidwalker and I mean really close friends.

I’d recommend getting Rank 1 Curse of Recklessness just to prevent runners. If you hit areas with tightly packed mobs it is really handy.

If you don’t mind me asking why is that?

As Alliance many of your pvp encounters will involve either a warrior or an undead or both.

Fear and seduce will be useless on them when you need it most so you’ll need another strategy.

Voidwalker can be sacrifices so you can get a shield to protect you for a little while.

Tip for using this setup: you have to make a lot of greens while leveling up Tailoring. Disenchant them and sell the mats on the AH. There are no deposits for DE mats for some reason, and you can DE anything with enchanting. Later when you want to level enchanting just stop selling the mats.

I’m not rich or anything, but I’ve made some nice coin using that technique.

Voidwalker is better defensively. It also has the sacrifice ability that will give you a damage shield, which is different from the health regen you get from the Demonic Sacrifice talent. Soul Link also transfers 30% of the damage you take to your demon, and the voidwalker has a LOT of health. I’m sure there are other reasons, as well.

Going on a PVP server I do have a question though. Is Engineer/Mining useful to my group/raid or profitable? I assume almost everyone will have it because of the edge it gives in pvp.

You need tailoring for bloodvine, which is bis for locks until you’re naxx geared.
