I started playing WoW mainly in late BC. I had another account as you wont see progress here on my main account now. How was warlock back in classic? Id imagine it was good but was it a strong class in pvp at all?

Strong in PvP
starts out slow in PvE but scales very hard, by AQ they are very strong PvE dps
Whats the best spec to go for pvp? and whats the best spec to go in pve?

PvE they'll be speccing a bit in each tree. Demo will be the deepest. I believe it's called the SM/Ruin.
Go fear spec and you'll be fine xD
Warlock is legit in PvP. Strong damage and utility. The only thing they really lack is mobility. But their damage is quite strong and they have pretty good survivability between death coil, healthstones, and their health draining abilities. They're the only pure DPS that has self healing. They also have arguably the best CC in the game. Of course you'll probably want to be horde if you want to PvP as a warlock to avoid facing the masses of fear immune undead.

Most likely you won't use the above one due to debuff slot limit.
These involve sacrificing you're succubus and provides higher dps. Some warlocks will have to be a specific spec to provide imp stamina buff.

Most people ran SM/Ruin for raiding purposes. SM stands for shadow mastery in the affliction tree. You picked up raiding QOL talents like improved lifetap along the way to shadow mastery.
Ruin is down the destro tree. Since there is a debuff limit, locks can not dot the boss outside of maybe the lucky couple that get to put on corruption for nightfall(affliction talent) procs. Locks will be shadow bolt spam bots in raids until you go oom and then you lifetap to refill mana and repat shadow bolt spam.
So your entire spec was revolved around buffing your shadow bolt damage with shadow mastery and ruin. It worked decent enough in pvp and farming world mobs as well.
Other specs was going deep into the demo tree for soul link to beef your survival. Your shadow bolts didn't hit near as hard but your succy did a ton of damage. Problem is that your succy dies every time the boss farts. If your succy lived long enough though it was a very viable build for all content. Just very difficult to have it live in raids.

There are a few options for specs. If you want something that is good for both PvP and PvE then you'll definitely want SM/ruin.

The idea with any warlock raiding build is to maximize your shadowbolt damage as you'll pretty much be spamming shadowbolt since you cannot use DoTs due to debuff limits. So with DS/ruin you sacrifice your succubus for the 15% shadow damage boost.
If you want to be super bursty in PvP you can spec deep into destro and pick up conflagrate. Probably something like this:

Of course this spec is no good for PvE, at least not for raiding.
And there's better options for affliction for pure PvP. Deep demonology can be good for PvP as well but you'll basically sacrifice damage for survivability. The key to deep demo is of course soul link.

Warlocks were gods in Alterac Valley, so many fear targets and ability to wipe.
As a rogue it was the one class I hated facing off against on an objective.

Looks better, but why no improved corruption? 5 points in suppression is a waste for PvP. You don't need more than 2 points and you may need none at all depending on what your spell hit% is at. I believe the cap for PvP is 4%.
I didn't like playing a warlock because of soul shards. Shallow I know.
