This post is for WARLOCK players ONLY (the good ones). WHY? Because i know NOTHING about the class. I have asked those playing it - but they seem as lost as i am. I leveled this to 71 and realized - i’m not figuring this out very well (obviously). is there a GUIDE (because i would like to learn it - like i did a number of classes i love to play) that can shed light on this class? Any suggestions? it sure seems like fun but it seems like i am having to do 10x the work of other classes to get it to be as competitive as those classes are. I sort of stopped at level 71 because i seem to be missing quite a bit. I would like to move it along and have fun with it.
ETA: The three specs play very differently. Try the Assisted Highlight option (Menu->Options->Gameplay Enhancements) and the One Button Rotation button (in your spellbook) for some basic suggestions on what to do as you play.
I like warlock, though I haven’t played as a sweaty raid-meter topper in many years, so maybe they suck for that now, but as a filthy casual I like them.
not sure if you have leveled an alt recently but this is actually really easy to do since you hit 70 by sneezing, and you can do it with zero effort by hitting whatever your spammable ability is non-stop.
One of the easiest ones to ‘graduate’ to after wanting to move on from the OBR is Demonology. It’s ‘Easy Mode’ works for both raiding and M+ and doesn’t have a lot of buttons. Once you feel comfortable to move to the normal talents, it’ll work the same way but you sent Tyrant after your Dreadstalkers, Felguard (grimoire) and Charhound is out instead of just the Dreadstalkers.-
What spec? Have you tried Destro? Your main rotation is just immolate, conflagrate, incinerate, chaos bolt. Yeah there’s more to it than that but those will be the 4 spells you use most.
You can level ANY class to max level. that’s easy. To get class dialed in to get max out of it - that’s a different story. I can tell you lots of people play lots of classes - and lots of peole can do 2-3 times the damage as that person. managing stacks, procs, all of that - is easy on some classes not so much on others. THERE IS A LOT you need to get right (all the trees, rotations, - all of it). it’s not just about playing a class.
Warlocks are one of, if not the best class in the game. They really aren’t difficult at all if you play Affliction or Demonology. I hate Destruction so I won’t address that.
Affliction is about stacking your dots. Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction. Thats the primary rotation.
You keep your pet up, I primarily use Voidwalker for this one. You can also spec into the eye of doom or whatever its name is. This is a huge boon for difficult fights. In the talents are a couple of other damage dealing attacks that really amp damage as well.
Demonology, is all about the pets. Your attacks proc temporary pets. Thats the gist of this build. Keep your primary pet up, for this one i use the fel tank. There is a talent to keep two Imps up. Then from there you call more imps during combat, Every cast of the spell give you more imps. The key here is to keep your shards up since everything uses shards. This isnt difficult because Demonbolt, your shard generator procs instantly a lot. Its very easy to cast imps, cast demon bolt, cast imps, cast demonbolt, cast imps. In between you can summon your fel hounds. Theres also other pets you can talent into.
best way to learn your class is to lock your level every once in awhile like every 10 levels for 5 zones in low level areas unless your rushing to max level if you are rushing well you my good sir picked the worst expansion to do that in,
It’ll definitely take a while to master and I’m not the type to be teaching anyone either, i just wanted to pop into the discussion and say that i feel your pain, it really does such to watch other classes melt trash packs as you cast your seed of corruption with its glacially slow cast time… then watch the travel time… then wait for it to explode just as the pack dies
yeah affliction is more for like bosses in raids pvp and questing, destruction can do either. demonology yeah that is the best for solo content not sure how it is for pve content .
IMO you should play Destruction, it has a very easy rotation (3-4 buttons) and you don’t have to do crazy things to do big damage. You can even play without a pet if that annoys you.
The other 2 specs are more complex and require tracking of things that can be overwheelming at first so I’d not touch them for now.
Also keep in mind that until you unlock every talent and get some high (20%+) haste value, it’s gonna feel like .
