At this point I’m just demoralized. Why even play this loser class. DECLINED. That should replace the Warlock name.
The funny thing is, before the Legion rework the specs (or at least Destro and Demo) had tools and AoE kits that would’ve made them great in M+. But the expansion that introduced it took all of it away.
All 3 lock specs do decently in m+. Please don’t worry about people complaining in forums. Thankfully we have some great experienced locks willing to give good advise in the lock forum. Getting accepted in m+ as dps is difficult across the board. May sound like a broken record, but do all 5’s before you do all 7’s… then all 10’s, then all 12’s. Doing 12’s a week is enough to get a healthy weekly chest and once you’re geared up, move on to 14’s & 15’s if you enjoy it. Too many experienced dps que up for keys for someone to pick you. Advantage is that you should have no problems getting good players to help push your key.
I would also switch from rain of chaos + soul Conduit to Roaring Blaze + Channel Demonfire. Cataclysm followed by CD, then soul rot, then havoc, conflag & then rain or bolts is a good rotation available on every pack. If you still want to run rain of chaos + SC, the Wilfreds legendary would be a better choice.
So you’re saying run destro and what legendaries?
I ran Wilfreds for a while. Enjoyable at lower gear. With cataclysm + rain of chaos & channel demonfire. Important to use infernal pretty much on cooldown & not hold on to it unless you’re within a minute of a boss. As gear got better, I shifted to Cinders. The basic rotation I mentioned above gives a good burst each pack. Many people also use synergy, but I enjoy the fast paced rotation with Cinders. Also goes well with the roaring blaze talent.
Ps. Definitely not saying run destro. I just enjoy it most. Aff is supposed to be better in higher keys. Demo locks swear by it. So I’m saying the opposite, pick whichever one you enjoy.
As others have mentioned, this isn’t a warlock issue. The simple truth is, there are numerous dps that sign up for keys. Those with the most experience (RIO) and/or ilvl are selected. I’d recommend getting that 2 Spires up and continue slowly building up your other dungeons a little higher each time. I pug 95% of my keys and did exactly this. As you get more experience, you’ll start getting accepted more frequently. As for specs, play what you enjoy.
Good luck, have fun, and happy hunting!
Ymmv but I pull ahead dps in most of my groups pretty happy with my lock. Even on trash pulls my damage is good with my single target build.
You’re getting declined because you’re undergeared and have a really low IO.
Yeah no, good luck getting your IO up if you are just declined
Warlock isn’t any worse than a lot of other specs, it’s just there are a LOT of DPS and everyone wants Fire Mage/Balance Druid/Marks Hunter.
it’s nice to see that despite your last comment, you now have 6’s across the board with a few 8’s. Grats. It’ll happen and it’ll get easier.
Did another DoS pug earlier and I have to say, as a NF Destro lock, that is probably our best or 2nd best dungeon. I consistently smoke the first ~14 mob pull in the Ardenweald area, and by the time the extra spriggan and pride cleanup is done, you usually have Infernal back up for the jar on Fort weeks, so you can clean house again.
2-chested a +14 with just shy of 11 mil dmg and ~6.8k dps.
If you’re NF, I’d suggest trying to push a +15 DoS or Mists as your first >= 15 key. There’s so many large AoE pulls that you get enormous value from Infernal, Cata, CDF, RoF, and Shadowfury.
Rubbish.
Warlock is tied as the worst M+ spec.
That doesn’t mean you can’t do M+ with it, but it’s objectively terrible in almost all m+ scenarios, and when people are picking DPS there are DPS specs that are so far ahead it’s sad.
Objectively: in a way that is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions. Terrible, really? There isn’t anything objective about this post. Op, glad to see you got that Spires key up, keep at it!
That would be factually incorrect.
Doing low keys atm (~12+ / 210iL) at it feels really good with Cinders. I try time my Infernal on trash so I have it for the boss fights.
Was using Wilfreds and AoE build before. While trash dps was really good, I was always lowest on boss damage or if tank not pulling big, which is a lot of times with most affixes to benefit from RoF and Infenals.
It just doesn’t feel good without Roaring Blaze’s 25% damage buff to most of our spells.
I have found synergy to do very well on the more aoe heavy dungeons. Cinders is definitely solid as well.
Kaal
Where is Grashaal?
I have no idea what you’re even talking about, there’s no data anywhere that supports that. There are more Warlocks at 15 and up than Rogues, Havoc DH, both DPS specs of Shaman, WW Monks, Shadow Priests…even at very high keys (20+) Warlock still beats a lot of other DPS.
The big 3 (Marks Hunter, Balance Druid, Fire Mage) are just so far ahead of everyone else that it seems like you’re terrible if you’re not playing one of them. In other words, there are 3 busted specs and then everyone else.
Cinders is best fit for me as I’m Kyrian.
It takes a lot of smart play and near perfect timing to use Scouring Tithe.
I Havoc a lower health target to get 5 shards for RoF spam. Or Tithe a low health target and save Havoc for buffed Chaos Bolts. And have to apply havoc and dump shards in anticipation of shard refund.
