So if I understanf this, if you want to tank, you should go either affli or destro, since SL does not work anymore in meta?
I suppose demo tree is the pvp tree for ppl who are not going meta ?

Yeah I can’t wrap my head around this logic what so ever. Demo was already an underplayed talent tree. It made the most sense to make the tank tree. But guess you are forced into afflic now. I don’t get how the issue was soul link whatsoever when destro tanking is even possible without any benefit to actually assist you in tanking other than higher crit chance for dance of death.
Afflic barely does anything to help tanking either and Destro does huge amounts more threat.
Literally destro or bust for tanks. They just killed an entire talent tree minus pvp.
Be nice if they actually rebalanced demon tree talents as a consequence of this change. But its too much to ask. Too many metaphorical balls in the air
afflic at least drains 20% more life and provides siphon life and improved curse of weakness. It also improves tap so you don’t spend as much health on that.
its not insignificant but its nowhere near what demo was durability wise
was a 7/10 spec imo.

Personally i would love if they made meta give some modifier to dots to make threat from them more bursty to start to open this line up far more. I would worry though if you have pumpers who do 90+ currently.
Also their itemization of pumping fire dmg is not helping.
Poorly executed change all around
There is still faint hope for the demo tree, depending on how felguard interacts with master demonologist. If it triggers all four benefits, then we get 10% phys reduction, 10% damage increases, and 50 all resist, but at the cost of 20% threat. That last part is a bit painful, but the rest could be nice.
Honestly, all blizz needs to do in order to make demonology warlock tanks viable again is a rune that let’s you keep your demon alongside Demonic Sacrifice. Make it in meta form only, if needed.
Yes give me a rune that turns off soul link for meta but doubles the effect or enables the effect of demonic sacrifice. I could live with that.

When they announced Warlock tanks, I automatically assumed the Demonology tree would be the tanking tree because of Demonic Embrace, Master Demonologist, and Soul Link. I assumed that the tanking runes would synergize in some way with the Demonology tree talents. I mean, I guess it’s nice you can choose other trees and tank, but it just makes no sense given what is in the Demonology tree.

That would be interesting if it also applied to demonic sacrifice. Then you could choose between good baseline tank with sacrifice or heavy survivability with lower threat.
We will find out one way or another this weekend, right? Super hyped for my best boy felguard.
