I know there has been a not so easy feeling about bringing warlocks to mythic + groups for a while now and I would like to see that change. I’m not saying bring any warlock, but let me tell you, affliction night fae with the NF leggo and the seed build, probably has one of the highest burst aoe in the game.
Again, don’t bring just any warlock, but asking them what build they run before you invite can see what kind of damage you are bringing.

i love bringing warlocks! they bring a lot of neat tricks to the table. Whether it’s with safe skips (DoS has a couple), cc’s or for cookies!
I also think it’s just a good idea to have someone skilled at evil magic when you’re entering dark places.

I will never bring a warlock to my mythic groups
Mostly cuz I play with friends cuz lol pugs
Well I mean, if you only play with friends and they don’t play a warlock…well that just makes sense. I’m just saying we pump!

I just can’t bring myself to play the fairy covenant.

People were always surprised to see me as Venthyr when I did mythics awhile ago lol.
Don’t recall any complaints even when my covenant is prob the worst for affliction
Demo still does well in keys for sure. I started 9.1 as demo and after unlocking the NF leggo I had to switch to aff.
Lots of people don’t like the fairy theme, I get it. But if you ever change your mind, the seed build is absolutely INSANE

Really? Like what?
I love DoS, but I haven’t seen anyone chime in for a lock gate (how I typically learn about these short cuts).
The normal way is someone shouts out “Lock! Gate!” and then runs off as if I have any idea of what they’re talking about. But, if they’re willing to take the time to explain, I like to contribute where I can.
I use the gates in DoS all the time organically. Typically at the start of each wing, just to speed us up a twitch heading back, And I like to use it to cross the conveyor belt blob slime thing (put that in the wrong place once, boy that went over like a lead balloon).
So, curious what other places may be better to do use it in there?

It feels so good. If single target were a little less poop, it would be
You don’t have enough interrupts to make it worthwhile.
i’ve used it in the ring to bypass the big red berserker on pride before. And hakkar / manastorms area / mehzala have times you can use it.
to be fair, i don’t ask for them, they just place the gate and i trust enough to click lol
some groups also lock gates on mists opening, but i prefer to just go around the long way and open the grove
it really is a great spell!
i forgot to add that I am still “trained” from the early days to always put hots on any warlock you run into! they appreciate it apparently
Try being a feral druid.
Talk about stigma.

(…I run dungeons as balance/resto really)
We have the same interrupt time as hunter and mage, and they are taken…

Heck, I don’t even want to run PF without a warlock. Banish is really powerful on the first and second bosses.

What a weird comment for him to make. Interrupt on regular minion. Demo minion even has interrupt + it counts as a stun if it can be stunned. AoE stun with shadowfury (super useful). Mortal Coil can even be an interrupt since it’s such a short duration and the fear will likely cancel from AoE damage.
I think the stigma has come from people thinking locks take long to “ramp up”… but they can do any level of key just fine. Even low level ones where mobs die relatively quickly.
Druid also does the exact same thing while also bringing trees which is the problem. If you’re tryhard meta slaving you either lose Boomie or you lose your Mage because there’s not enough kicks with triple ranged. Besides, you’re a pally you can literally turn evil the slime on the first boss anyways.

Warlocks have always had a solid to great damage profile in M+.
The problem has always been that our utility is extremely situational at best. Gateway doesn’t have a huge amount of uses, Curses are extremely clunky to apply when they’d be good, Healthstones are actually pretty solid, especially on grievous weeks and Battle Resses are pretty common as a mechanic, especially since Engineers can now do them. Fear is probably the least reliable CC mechanic you can bring to a run and banish is good, but only works in like 1 or 2 dungeons an expansion for 1 or 2 very specific situations and can often be replaced by almost any other CC.
Competing with classes like Mages and Boomkins who have a fantastic damage profile on M+, but they also have some of the most universal and powerful buffs and utility to bring to a group in literally every situation is rough and Blizzard really need to look at how they design classes in regards to M+ in the future.
When you’ve only got three slots for DPS, each of them need to bring some pretty fantastic stuff to the table to compete with utility like Bloodlust, Shroud, Trees, Int, etc.

Exactly! People just don’t understand the class and just pass. But on your comment of ramping up…that is gone. With the new seed build and NF leggo, there really isn’t ramp anymore. It’s just agony the targets, haunt, unstable affliction then spam seeds. On demand burst and it’s crazy powerful. Like I said in my original post, it’s one of if not the best aoe burst. It helps that sow of the seeds is uncapped too
Great points, and I hugely agree! The toolkit is usually the one thing that holds us back sometimes, which sucks.
