Warlock Spell Lock

I noticed that they’re wanting to remove spell lock from felhunter and give it to warlocks as a talent you can pick in DF. Not really a fan of this because one of the awesome benefits of your FH being able to interrupt was that it didn’t interrupt your cast. I would propose making it a talent option - if you opt into the spell lock talent, it becomes an ability you can cast but your FH loses it. If you don’t take the talent, your FH still has it and can use it.

To be clear, I definitely understand the benefit of spell lock being a warlock’s spell they can cast. It means more variety in pvp and other scenarios which is exciting. However, it’s not as great to lose the ability to have a pet interrupt for you. I’ve been in Necrotic Wake many times and had my FH interrupt a druid fluids while I was stunned by it. I’m not really interested in losing that awesome little niche of the FH.

I don’t comment often but had to here. It should really be a binary talent, where you have the choice of having spell lock or giving the felhunter spell lock.

I am actually in awe in how hard having a virtually unlimited-range interrupt, separate from the player’s GCD, is being undervalued in these forums. But again…it’s the Warlock Forums nothing spectacular is ever really shared here.

It’s kind of valuable to have as Demo because, presuming we are keeping the current functionality of Axe Toss, having an interrupt that isn’t a stun is very nice to have on occasions where you want caster mobs to move into the group. Stunning in addition to interrupting kind of screws that up. Sure you could swap to Felhunter but Demo is reliant on Felguard, and is looking to be potentially a lot more reliant on Felguard depending on what talents you take. Plus this will mean Demo will have 2 interrupts, 3 with Grimoire Felguard, which is… incredible considering we had none without swapping pets not that long ago.

For Destro and Aff though, yeah, having the interrupt on the pet is clearly better 90% of the time (the remaining 10% being those situations where you’re in range to interrupt but your pet is off smacking something a mile away)

Well it wasnt much of issue with the 1st few expansions of the game. But when they started to add very important mechanics requiring interrupts is when that dynamic change.

Also before we could summons in between but then they changed our summom to 6 secs.

So you if want to use another pet’s spell in a pinch, Fel Dom. summon it. You don’t need it for anything else in PvE; pets don’t die anymore.

This is a great opportunity to keep the skill ceiling high without resorting to additional button bloat to do it. Pet choice should matter.

Nah screw all that. Warlock spell lock should just make your current pet interrupt the spell no matter what pet is out. I want it all.

you would be surprised, some mechanics are wonkily coded and sometimes your pet just F**ks off into uncharted lands.

i agree with the overall sentiment though, kick being playerbound DOES technically lower our interrupting capabilities, but it also enables having a dispel or whatever the hell sayaad does, or a purge (redundant with dog). i see it as a net positive for the entire lock base, but there are certainly arguments against it.

Between the imps ranged attack and the buff to whiplash, the felhunter hasn’t been the appropriate pet to use in PVE for quite a while, so this change lets us actually have an interrupt. I agree that it should be a choice node to give it to you or your felhunter because of how important it can be to interrupt a healer around a corner depending on what content you’re doing.

I actually love this idea! All Hunter Pets have Growl, all Warlock Minions should have Spell Lock! This is genius!

Want a defensive dispel? Run the Imp. Want a snare/CC? Run the Sayaad. Want an offensive dispel? Run the Felhunter. Want a tank? Bring out ol’ Blue! I’m seriously posting this in my other thread about the Warlock tree feedback!

So what I think should be done is: make it a choice mode.

One choice leaves it as is, the other puts it on the lock.

I would like this cause in pvp I would rather it be on the pet (most times) and in pve I would (most times) want it to be through me.

I can hear the Demon Summoning Witch doing the Noblewoman’s Laugh in the distance kicking mobs and stunning their casts.
