First time post, I apologize at the start as I am horrible at putting ideas down in writing but hear me out. Hardcore for me has been incredibly fun and the rp that goes on has given me genuine belly laughs being apart of an odd guild called “church of beef”. Last night i willingly took part in a Mak’gora (beef’gora as we put it) and lost. This isnt a post about losing and asking for another chance, rather the guild has next to no warlocks playing so i started again and rolled lock. This got me thinking about the locks tool kit and obviously soul stone came to mind and in turn ankh usage. For obvious reasons in hardcore these abilities are not useable but here is my problem. Hardcore is already incredibly slow and the journey is difficult enough for id say most players. Instead of taking parts of characters tool kits away could we change them to only be useable on yourself? You ask yourself…well thats dumb then the character would never die right? My reply would be something like this…you need to get to the ability first, there are windows where maybe the lock forgot to put it up, shamans forgot to buy the reagent, no shards and on top of that after you use it theres a cd right? I could be completely wrong here and maybe its only in my experience but i feel like locks are an under represented class due to them being low on the charts, no mobility and have parts of their toolkit taken away. Is infernal even a thing since it kills someone? Dont get me wrong, summoning people, lock cookies, curses that help the raid, im not denying their utility, but theres something about taking away from a toolkit that doesnt sit right with me. Warriors are top dps and the best tank, paladins have bubble and loh, hunters have feign death, rogues have vanish, druids can heal themselves and have bear form on top of travel form and dash, mages have their iceblock, priests have their bubbles and can heal (arguable they are the best healers but not a great point). Shamans can heal themselves and they have ghost wolf but again the circle back to my point theres something in their toolkit thats taken away. Warlocks get drain life for survivability and ill throw in sacrifice voidwalker. Im rambling at this point so apologies again for the jumbled thoughts. Maybe someone else is on a similar thought process as me and im hoping to have a fun discussion. Cheers and stay safe
As a lover of Warlocks and Shaman, I agree that it hurts to lose iconic and very powerful abilities like these. However, only “bad” Shaman would run out of ankhs.
I would love to see a HC Classic with #bigchanges. Soul Stone could proc a heal at X% low health. Reincarnate could summon an ancestor spirit to taunt for you. Two ideas off the top of my head. I would put this in with “Sparring Grounds” ideas for Battlegrounds which could easily be solved.
They don’t even let you bubble hearth not happening
I would be open to seeing a one-per-character/once-in-a-lifetime Soulstone and Ankh quest added to HC. This way Locks and Shamans could have only 1 rez that could only be usable on themselves, in the spirit of what’s originally intended for these classes. On this topic, pally should have a once-in-a-lifetime bubble hearth quest.
