Warlock raid mobility

In Castle Nathria it’s difficult for me to maintain my dps because of constant moving and Hard-casting, especially when I play Destro Warlock which I prefer. Are all raids like this from previous expansions. Any advice on how to deal with dps and constant movement. The only fights I do decent damage on are Sludgefests where there is a window of opportunity to burst the raid boss.

knowing how mechanics work, the minimum amount of movement needed to not die to them, and when they’re coming out. most raids are similar in this regard.

Most of it will come down to just learning the fights and knowing what your damage windows are.

Like on shriek, don’t pop CDs until after echolocation as an example.

Dang it Cheeze. You beat me to it.

Good advice right there

To echo what is said above, it really comes down to knowing the fight mechanics and the strategy your guild uses. Mobility is a huge weak point for us, so expect to have a steeper learning curve than most other DPS when it comes to new fights.

Once you get more comfortable, then you can really use Demonic Circle and well-timed conflags to help increase your uptime (and gateway, if you’re free to use it how you want rather than needing required placement).

To second a part of this.

My old guild did SLG one way while my new guild does it completely different. My pulls last week were awful because of how off I felt.

Everything else was fine & manageable… destro did well even on pure ST fights… till I reached Sire. Have never been stuck on 9/10 for so long. Granted I only raid heroic (& exclusively pug) but I have never hated any fight that much as destro… Did it once & am never going in again, nerfs or not. Good thing is that single fight forced me to stop being lazy & learn aff.

My guild is doing a new strat I’m going to try Destro as next week.

We hero in phase two as soon as we drop and move Sire to the mirror.

Having havoc on sire and remoria should def pump with an infernal

When my guild was still doing heroic, we would use lust in the final phase, after the first knockback. I didn’t end up using Infernal there, because I usually popped it once in P1, and then on the 2nd add spawn interval in P2. In the final phase, you really, really need to use demonic circle to negative the hand of destruction pulls and get back to the orbs to soak. That will reduce the damage your raid takes AND increase your boss damage uptime. Being NF is also super nice on that fight.

That’s probably my worst fight, since I haven’t broken 93% on it. Too much of that fight’s parses are about padding the hell out of P1, anyways.

Focus more on boss damage, with Havoc on the sword (don’t do it the other way around otherwise you’ll get directionally screwed in your casts).

phase 2 doesnt really have a damage check tho…phase 3 does…all due respect to your raid but that seems like a really dumb idea when youre on a hard timer in p3

I just dps and do what I’m told. It felt ok last night when we did it but I was affliction.

Tbh the guild runs things a little different but they are primarily an aotc guild.

I think they do it to bypass the mechanics.

I agree with you though that lusting in p3 is better.

i started off in a similar guild - just saying lusting P2 might prevent you from making the check in p3 to kill him, but hopefully the thing falls over and you’re chillin

Will most definitely have havoc in remoria. I didn’t word that very well so my bad.

They do some weird strats. Like in my old alliance guild they did SLG pretty standard and I did fine (press were booty due to 187 ilvl) but I can’t seem to get comfortable with their strat so I think I’m going to go Destro for slg and see how it goes.

I personally think the strat is dumb but I do what I’m told lol

We killed it last night with the strat but if anyone died we were behind.

Nice job. Once you get a new pair of Yeezys, and push your helm leggo and changeling to a higher ilvl you’ll be in a really good spot. I agree that the lust timing seems weird but it seems you killed it pretty quickly so that’s good.

Also, since you’re the only lock in the group, once you get settled in the new guild more you’ll be pretty indispensable.

Thanks. I still feel like I struggle on multi target fights with more than two adds as affliction.

I don’t really like this strat because I held darkglare for P2 to maximize my MR windows and setting Remoria on focus with focus macros for agony/corruption/siphon life helped a lot with that but just holding Darkglare that long feels weird.

Rerolling has been tough but definitely enjoying the game more.
