What is the best race for pve affliction warlock? Void elf or gnome?
Void elves are the best caster race IMO, but i think the margins are pretty slim so play what you want.
Don’t sleep on trolls, that haste boost can make for some pretty disgusting burst windows.

Disclaimer: Race Damage Min Maxing is quite a diminute % of your dps even in 9.2.5 with all inflation best race was only 1.5%~1.6% ahead of Vulpera (Who sim’d as a 0% gain), and in some cases its good for you to also think and valuate QoL abilities that each race can bring to the table [ Goblins for exemple have Bank and a mobility skill who is quite liked in raid progression to avoid some stuff].
That Said.
Orcs/Trolls normally trade places between nº1/nº 2 for Horde, bonus point for the Pet damage Racial of Orcs for Demonology, On Alliance it’s Mechagnome nº1 with Humans/Dark Irons/Third Race Here fighting for 2º place.
The reason why i put such a big list on Alliance race is that it can be very context based.
Mechagnome racial gives them a LOT of primary stats (intellect) as the fight progresses and just stay active for the rest of it, the longer the encounter the better, the shorter the encounter the worst.
Humans racial sucks early expansion as you don’t have a lot of secondary stats, but as the expansion Progress and you have more secondary stats The Human Spirit - Spell - World of Warcraft (wowhead.com) is quite good.
Dark Iron Dwarfs Fireblood - Spell - World of Warcraft (wowhead.com) is already powerfull (not as much as Mechagnome) in its default value, but inside M+ where it also have defensive applications and can give even more stats? nuts.
Then the third race spot becomes a fight between the “give 1% secondary stat here” races who will depend on what is the spec current best secondary or Void Elf who is proc-based bonus damage.
