Warlock PvP Defensives Need Buffs

Agreed, the mage arsenal for dealing with melee in their face has continued to grow significantly over time, meanwhile warlock defensives have gotten significantly worse over time.

Another deleted defense we used to have dating back to vanilla was voidwalker sacrifice to get a large damage absorb which used to come in handy with fel domination sacrifice combos. Anyone know offhand why this got deleted?

Probably because they didn’t want us having sacrifice and dark pact at the same time.

Imagine lol. We’d have a shield for like 5mil or something lol

I really think warlock’s survivability (at least for Affliction, which I main), is okay, at least compared to my shadow priest alt.

Shadow priest’s main survivability spell is just dispersion.

The one second fade from spectral guise and a weak 5% HP power word shield does almost nothing. And a shadow priest has no way to get away from anything at all, minus dispersion + run.

At least for a warlock, you get dark pact, demonic resolve, nether protection, demonic soul burned healthstones, soulstones, soul leech armor, demon and feel armor, fel synergy, soul link, +10 to 15% more stamina, demonic circle teleport, soul burn teleport, demonc gateway, mortal coil, soul burn instant cast gateway to run away, burning rush, fel armor letting you regen your soul leech, phantom singularity AOE drain, Soul Rot AOE life drain, maybe even siphon life (which most people won’t take).

Our survivability is really fine, compared to what other classes like shadow priests are getting. Mages, I have played. They have decent escape spells, but even with alter time and frost/blazing barrier, they are pretty squishy.

What warlocks need is to buff the lowly and pathetic drain life damage and some weak talents like siphon life (maybe making it heal for 15% to 25% dmg done instead of a mere 5%).

Affliction is fine.

But destruction needs more instant casts and maybe the same for demonology too for PvP.

3M atm is nothing to sneeze at.

Wasn’t it 300% or 400% in previous expansions? I remember using it at low health and still living in BGs.

howl of terror needs to be a baseline spell again for one thing.

Agreed.

Warlock defensives have taken a hit in almost every way. Self healing is below average, defensive CDs are below average, and mobility is at the very bottom because one portal has a long CD and barely creates any meaningful distance unless talented, and the other portal is easily negated because almost every class can easily catch up.

Something definitely needs to be done about Warlock defensives.

Yeah but im running out of buttons

Would be cool if they took a more modern approach to pruning

Like make it baseline but for once can you use the rest of your damn tech? If we press and hold fear we could transform the spell into howl, like the evoker spells.

Giving us the void bulwark directly would be pretty hype.

Make shadowfury instant.

PvPers complained our caster class shouldn’t have an instant AoE stun on such a short CD.

Hence why it’s 1 min now with a cast that suffers from pushback.

also we were the only class completely absent on the last patch notes on ptr…

but how would that work for regular fear? would it need to be instant? or if you hold only for 1.5 its fear, 2.0 its howl? i preferred howl as it was because it was instant cast.

Fear would still work as is

But yeah i suppose it would turn Howl into a cast. But that might be an okay trade off if we get to have it baseline in my opinion

I personally don’t mind casting

Lmao! :joy: :joy: :joy:

on another note –

It’d be cool if ‘Burning Rush’ only depleted health when in combat.

:face_with_spiral_eyes: Especially when in melee groups that are zooming through and you’re trying to keep up :pensive:

Or only start to burn health after 3 seconds. And FFS take it off the GCD so I can turn it off immediately !!

We need ice block, or dispersion type spell in pvp. This is the only fix. Only way to prevent class being trained.

Or make a talent that makes demonic resolve permanent but lose the secondary values of the spell, and go back to the old SL/SL drain tank of BC.

Probably would need to add some sort of internal cooldown for the 3s, or else it would just be turning on/off.

Putting a Soulburn effect to it to protect your health for 20s or something would be interesting too.

Regardless, I’m fine with the current defenses, especially with Drain Life 200% buffs making it viable (to be seen in PVP, though, due to a possible modifier), but the mobility is really lackluster, especially to a class that is a punchbag to melee.

its very demoralizing being swarmed because the opponents know your not able to escape.

Doesn’t drain have a 50%/75% less modifies like demo doom damage whenever you engage in pvp.
