Warlock Playstyles, Rotations and DoT’s

Hey Blizzard,

You guys did fine with the tuning and we warlocks do fine dps for the most part (not so much destruction). But affliction is fine!

So is there any way to smooth out affliction a little more? I mean Spriest got super smooth like a fresh slab of asphalt, they never have to manually refresh ANY of their DoT’s as their other 3 buttons do it for them. Meanwhile Affliction has to manually refresh every single DoT every few short seconds. Can we get some sort of rune buff too like “Mind Spike” baked into one of our other runes so that Shadow Bolt, Drain Soul and Drain Life refresh one of our many of DoT’s too? Just too much DoT management. Like or you can make it to where

“When you strike a target afflicted by our unstable affliction with Shadow Bolt, Drain Life or Drain Soul or Haunt it has a like a 50% chance or so to refresh our Corruption, Siphon Life, Immolate, Shadow Flame and Curse of Agony back to it’s full duration.”

Also what’s up with Destruction? It’s an extremely clunky and unrewarding rotation. Can we fix that so it’s more competitive with Affliction and a lot less clunky? Or are we supposed to literally only spam Incinerate and an occasional Chaos Bolt? It would be nice to be able to have the above suggestion applied to Destruction to so if we use our DoT’s then a couple of our main spells will refresh them too? Corruption and Curse of Agony would be great if they stayed on your target without needing to be refreshed. Heh, maybe we can actually keep Rune of Chaos more reliably active and actually proc a few Nightfall’s for free, instant Shadow Bolts.

Of course I’m speaking completely from a PvE/raiding standpoint. Idk if it would work for a PvP environment or not.

They have already gone over this. Destruction is no longer being worked on because majority want affliction. Affli is already really strong and doesn’t need a dot refresher unless the give something up(pact). Lock tank is seen as “problematic” pets can’t be given avoidance due to client issues so only felguard gets avoidance. Pandemic and ruin will no longer stack. “Execution” type damage is seen as “problematic” because it rewards locks in bad guilds because of the slower kill times.(Ironic that 6pc t3 CoA does that).

CoA lasts forever, so that’s one less.
Corruption has a rune that refreshes it, Everlasting Affliction. The problem is that it competes with Demonic Pact, which, for some reason, increases all our damage by 10% for free on top of the active effect.

If they move that passive 10% effect to the Shadow and Flame belt rune, this would let all but one Warlock in a raid run Everlasting Affli. Then you’d only have to baby Unstable Affliction, Shadowflame and Haunt.

As for Destruction, they’ve basically given up on it. Same as Demo. Or I should say, no matter what talent set-up we pick, everyone has to use Unstable Affliction because it’s just much, much stronger than any alternative. Incinerate isn’t much of an upgrade to Shadow Bolt AND you lose UA. Felguard does about half of what UA does even if you’ve got all the Pet boosting runes and set bonuses.

Blizzard has decided that this phase is UA only for Warlocks.

Play a dot class… upset they have to cast dots… sad!

So fire destro is clunky because according to you it “spams 1 button and occasionally chaos bolt”, but your suggestion for affliction is that you put up all your dots 1 time then just spam 1 button in the form of shadowbolt?

On the original DoT class of this game?

This makes 0 sense.
