Warlock pets

I’ve never played much warlock in my time playing wow, just dabbled here and there, but I’m considering it for release. I’m wondering about their pets, has anything changed or improved with their scaling and stuff? I know hunter pets will scale off the hunters stats so I assume it’ll be similar with warlocks, although maybe it was already that way. Wondering if voidwalkers will be better for soloing in forever, as their threat was always bad in original classic and stuff.

Void walkers are definitely improved, but there are mobs that are immune to their taunt, so watch out for that.

Apparently they scale with the warlocks gear.

i got 20 aff lock on beta and void does hold agro hell of alot better then in vanilla/classic.

i use succubus in dungeons and her default melee has been my top damaging ability.

Yesterday we ran Stockades with 5 level 20 Warlocks — no tank, no healer — and it was an absolute blast.

We had basically zero preparation. Nobody had planned their spec around the run, we didn’t really assign roles, and our strategy was mostly just: go in and see what happens.

And somehow it worked REALLY well.

We moved through the dungeon surprisingly fast. Aggro wasn’t much of an issue at all, mobs died quickly, and while we had a few deaths here and there, nothing really stopped us.

Until Hamhock.

Hamhock and his two adds wiped us, and by then the respawns were catching up with us, so we eventually had to call it.

But that was really the only thing keeping us from finishing the dungeon.

With even a little preparation, I’m pretty sure we would have cleared it. One of the biggest things we noticed was the +5 hit talent. It added around 30% more damage, but only ONE of the five Warlocks had actually taken it. Imagine all five properly specced for the run.

And we’re only level 20.

With more talent points, proper specs and a little coordination, I think Warlock-only dungeon runs are going to get even easier.

I can honestly see all-Warlock groups just blasting through content. Five Warlocks bring so much damage and so many tools that the usual tank/healer setup suddenly doesn’t feel quite as mandatory.

I’ll definitely be doing more Warlock-only dungeons during the beta, so expect to see me advertising more ALL WARLOCK RUNS.

Maybe I’ll even start an all-Warlock guild on beta and/or retail.

Because after yesterday…

Who needs tanks and healers?! :joy:

Playing as Affliction, the VW is pretty good at holding aggro, particularly once you get your drains and can stop relying on shadowbolt. Although, as noted, some mobs (like the harvesters in Westfall) are immune to taunt. The imp is better than Vanilla but there’s little reason to use it once you get succubus.

I LOVE soloing stuff with fear lol. I soloed that first elite you encounter in dun morogh, Old Icebeard, at level 8. Just dot em up and fear, feels so satisfying.

Are demon tomes still required for upgrading their abilities?

Seems like it.

Pets scale with player stats now, unsure the exact mechanics/which stats etc

Yes they do.

Yeah, but you seem to get silver at a slightly better rate than classic, so you’ll be ok at least for the first books.

Yes need grimoires

I suggest to install an addon called Warlock Grimoire Helper

scale warlock pets. man these guys hate the game so much lmao.

Pets now scale off warlock/hunter stats to a degree so they have been buffed, for hunter it like 30% of hunter armor 10% of AP and 100% of hunter crit (i think 50% of spell power too but only a couple pets like serpent use that) im assuming locks will be similiar
