Warlock or mage

Trying to decide which to level to 60. Both are fun for me. Which is best/most fun at 60 atm for a person who probably won’t raid?

If you are going to PvP, either is a fine choice–I think warlocks are about to start scaling a little better with more content…

More potential to farm with a mage however–if that’s what you plan to do?

I main warlock and I wouldn’t play any other class going forward.

if you wont raid you will be fine with whatever

personally i believe that locks are way more fun to level than a mage

If you want to farm gold, play mage. If you want to do anything else, play lock.

Because mages are “better”. I feel like over half of the playerbase is warriors and mages

Both are effective & actually have decent gear itemization (unlike many classes/specs) in Vanilla/Classic, but neither one is very fun to play (IMO). Your mileage may vary.

That’s because every guild already has 6-8 mages lol. This is the point of classic where locks start getting good. Once we have AQ gear locks outdps the non-ignite mages pretty regularly.

And I’m with you on the warrior thing. Never been much of a melee player myself either. It just feels weird to me.

as we get into aq both are fine picks. If you’re looking to play TBC in the future, definitely go lock as you’re the top caster dps for most of the game (barring a small stint in t5 where arcane mages are top)

Just pick on. You can’t go wrong with either. Mages are the farming kings and have a ton of utility with ports, food, and water. Locks are probably more fun to level however. Just flip a coin.

Cool. Thx for the input!!

Lock if you wont raid. They best mode solo or in 5 mans

If you like PvP I would go warlock. If you prefer PvE I would go mage.

If you don’t plan to ever raid on the character, I’d suggest warlock. The debuff limit isn’t a concern outside raids, and you have a pet.

Tough choice, really. They’re both amazing in PvP. Mages are probably more sought after for dungeons and are better gold farmers.

If PvP is primarily your thing I’d go warlock if you’re Horde and mage if you’re Alliance. Otherwise probably mage if you don’t care much for PvP.

I think every situation is different from guild to guild and server to server. Our guild for whatever reason has an abundance of locks and a huge shortage of warriors. This may, however, be attributable to the fact that we have RP race restrictions (we don’t allow humans or night elves) and warriors seem to like to roll human, at least on my server.

Wow.

Well, yeah, that’s your problem. Not only are humans the best PvE warrior race in the game, they also fill a character fantasy trope. And the people who really don’t like humans, tend to like elves. Yeah, I could see why you’re having a bit of trouble.

Why is this?

Weapon skill bonus for swords and maces. I’d put it slightly ahead of the orc bonus to axes because you can find swords everywhere.

Which of these two classes has best overall dps in bg’s and raids (usually)? Is there one that consistently gets more dps than the other?
