I’m sure it’s not the end of our development for Phase 5 but I have to say this is far from reassuring. Moreover that class weapon looks pretty awkward-- I guess we have to wait for the Free Demon Summon Effect to proc before we can sac our demon for extra damage. Could this be more awkward and button-bloating?
Already I would say we have some of the most awkward gameplay and QoL issues. Our pets are summoned at about half health, they die to any cleave or aoe even at full, we have no threat reduction, our most damaging spec is down to a fluke with snapshotting, and some more.
I focus on these because our fantasy is, especially in Classic, summonable demons and DoTs. But we seem to have the worst pets and worst dots. With the pets this can be partly excused by being compared to Hunter pets but it’s still cringe that so many powerful abilities we have are tied to a pet who isn’t that useful and dies easily.
But for DoTs I can find few excuses. Shadow Priests, who are quite powerful, are getting Pandemic and Ruin in one Rune (which is unbelievably superior to a Rune and a 21 point Talent investment). They seem to take the DoT and life-draining fantasy much further, presumably because they’re the sole priest dps spec
It feels the priority for locks is always minimal functionality.

100% support everything you said. It amazes me how weak our dots are compared to other classes. Look at moonkins after the buff too, not just Spriest. Everyone has better dots than us lol.
I want to go aff (even though I don’t have zila) but I’m the designated buff bot as the only warlock.
Save our pets! Give them avoidance!
And free up our runes by making things into books like every other class.
Also reduce the cooldown on deathcoil. It is all we have.

I agree on all of this. Meta tanks are getting hit bad as well. They are reducing our damage to the point we will be the lowest damaging tank class. The set bonuses for the T2 are all but worthless for tanking and I see no clear path forward for spec. Warlock is in a weird spot. Dps spec is getting nerfs, meta getting nerfs but we were already on the lower end of all specs.

A priest saying this is funny. That should be you guys. You rolled a healing support class with one dps spec. It’s reasonable to expect YOU to take that up.

Death coil 100%, summon pet full health is meaningless if die 10 seconds after by any mechanic.
I was on retail last night and Death Coil is a 45 second CD. They also get instant cast howl of terror.
I was only asking for a 1 min CD but its obvious we need this stuff since everyone else has so many instant hits, gap closers, new CC, etc.
