Warlock Life Tap Replacement...? 8.0.1

I agree. mana issues for locks.
I just did some practice of new rotation - muscle memory and such. Anyway, zero problems with mana.

You folks do know that they cut the mana cost of spells by a lot right?
Playing my Affliction lock in Greater Invasions, not on Dummies, my mana dropped to below half midway through the boss fight, where was my life tap, would be nice Blizz to have it back.
dissapointed in this change, as affliction i used drain soul alot, especially if i got flagged and an alliance player decided i was an easy target, life tap + drain soul made you a monster. I haven't had a chance to actually play yet though, affliction was changed dratically so this may no longer be an issue now that I actually have some attack spells rather than just diseases and drain soul
If your having mana issues in this patch, your toon is broken. Why the hell would you want mana tap back? People complaining about pointless !@#$e....
There's no dps rotation that rends you manaless.

Even against world bosses alone. You are better off healing your pet and letting it hold boss aggro than trying to face tank it with drain life.
wow they finally removed life tap? that was a core ability in the lore, fel magic is all about paying a price for power, so much for class fantasy...
Okay, this makes me mad. I will never forget being so happy when I finally got Hell Fire, this was way back right after I started playing in Burning Crusade.

I stood just outside of Ratchet and life tapped myself to near death, then hit Hell Fire and watched myself die.

It was glorious and funny all at once. Nobody else could take themselves out, and doing so whilst killing something just felt so perfect for the class.
The only mana issues Aff has is when you try to Fear or Drain Life.

6-7 fears and you'll OOM.
You can maintain Drain for about 30 seconds.

The last 'update' on beta slapped a huge mana cost increase on Fear and Drain; before then mana might as well not have existed.

So going forward my question is: where is the 6-7 casts 'till OOM for the other spammable CCs?

No cost increase on Sheep / Cyclone?
DRINK YOUR WATER
I tried demo warlock and it seems like none of my spells cost mana.
Having a DPS spec dependent on mana was ridiculous. Glad to see it go.
Second thoughts; this is particularly annoying with Affliction PvP talents that require Drain Life.

Rot & Decay, and Essence Drain are severely limited by Drain Life's cost OOMing you.
Even worse; since your blue bar will be dry casting Fear is no longer an option. Seems like a very poorly throughout / implemented last minute change.
Well, I really liked the feeling that gave me being able to go full mana whenever I needed it.
Anyway, I guess I'll put that next to Detect Invisibility in the cool old warlock spell's album.
I'll miss getting healers to heal me when I just sit there and life tap while board waiting on boss pulls.
I use life tap consistently in arenas! I just drop like a sitting duck now once I run out of mana I can’t fear or coil and I just drop... I need something to regain mana cause this is ridiculous! I can’t even play warlock in arenas anymore.
Warlocks don't have to manage mana anymore as part of dps. They've been standardized there. Only lock and arcane have had to deal with mana since around cata. Rest of the casters and other mana users just have it for utility. Now Lock uses mana for utility and not dps.
Yes, in a PVE situation, there really is no trouble with mana, unless its a very long fight.

PVP however, is a real concern for warlocks. Fear being our main CC and peel for our healers, FCs, etc., going OOM after several casts with no way to regen quick enough really leaves us with a lot of down time (punishment) for ourselves and the ability to help with CC.

Yes, the costs of spells were reduced but if you look at the mana costs for fear (3000 mana) and drain life (600 per sec) compared to lets just say shadow bolt (400 mana) with a mana pool of roughly around 20k that's not really enough mana for a PVP setting, considering us locks are there to contribute utility.

There's no need to complain about how we got PVP nerfed, because yes, we were OP and I enjoyed it while it lasted. NO QQ about survivability, but not being able to regen mana after getting mana burnt or peeling the 5 melee focus firing on your healer, kind of leaves us vulnerable and lacking; probably more so for the healer, that I now can only help for short period of time.

Just give it another look, please.

Mana basically only exists for utility abilities. The mana cost on your DPS abilities is so trivial that you regen mana faster than you can spend.

Did an LFR earlier and I almost oom'd because the fight was dragging on slowly.

50% haste = can in fact go oom on a longer fight.
Destruction Warlock may be more about generating Shards but all of our methods to generate Shards ... require Mana.

No Mana? No ability to generate Shards.

Drain Life, which used to be our filler spell when we're waiting on CDs is now a mana guzzler. One full cast of Drain Life is 10% of your mana pool at level 110.

Over the course of a RAID BOSS that can quickly become expensive.
