Hey guys, this is a rambling of sorts but I wanted to post this to see if anybody feels similar.
I play affliction. It doesn’t feel good, horrible infact. I played during SLs and the class hasn’t changed all too much. Now, even after I land all my dot timers successfully, no addons it’s like, I suck. So much effort for such low dps, what the heck is going on. I’m a casual, pugged the raid this week and mostly finished it (except last boss). But I’m button mashing and no lifing this and there just isn’t any clear visible rewards for the pain endured by in pressing buttons for so long. Affliction doesn’t have any of that, no skill feels particularly awesome or powerful, and other classes are feeling somewhat similar. Even evoker it’s like, you can do decent dps and still be chilling, it’s enjoyable.
Why was there a lvl 6 talent that needed to be lvl 1? And why the heck are they introducing a new CORE class mechanism now? That says something really significant about the state of things. It seems band-aid-y and makes me suspicious. A core passive charge-accumulated ability isn’t going to fix things. The damage is only half the story.
Blizz has done a great job on this expansion, and they are active, overall I’m impressed by the team. But talent tree design is probably one of the most difficult things an MMO team can do. And I’m not fully convinced they’ve figured it out – they are treading water. They played it super conservatively, which was probably smart. However, they said we get more options but in a way it still doesn’t feel like it, like why does fear have to be an ability and doomguard isn’t. You know how cool it would be to get your teammates to set up a sacrifice circle for a random sacrifice in pvp or pve, for the big benefit of balrog? Come on… we are lacking serious creativity on the abilities, and the implementation of that with the talent tree team. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Warlock is still the same class from SL, with a convoluted ability order and nothing that stands out.
Every class deserves to have something cool, that is visual to everyone to let them know you are doing something cool. Idk about you all but I don’t see that, with anyone really. What gobbledygook am I looking at when the boss is getting hit by 5, 10, let alone 25, I mean there should be something right that tells me my boy next to me just went BIG? I should be hyped for him, I’m not, cause I don’t feel, see or hear it. The graphics, in particular character abilities, need a serious rework from animations, sound effects to talent tree implementation and TESTING.
