Is there a reason why warlocks interrupt is tied to the felhunter? I don’t get why we are forced to bring out that pet to just use an interrupt? I’ve only gotten my lock to 32 so maybe something else opens up that I’m not aware of?
Edit: Is implosion even really part of the rotation now for demonology? I don’t ever really use it anymore and I’m top dps lol.
It’s just the class design, always has been that way.
If you pick up the Grimoire of Sacrifice talent, you can ditch your pets for some extra DPS and you’ll get one of their unique abilites for yourself, the interrupt in the Fel Hunter’s case. Same CD and functionality as Mage Counterspell. If you’re Demonology, Axe Toss will interrupt if it can’t stun the PvE mob but it has a 6 sec longer CD than Spell Lock.
A cool thing about the felhunter interrupt is you can use it while casting another spell, whereas the counterspell behavior interrupts your current cast

Which imo is a really well done design. You get some clear benefits (passive damage, interrupt while casting, purge) and some clear detriments (interrupt tied to pet which can die).
As Demonology isn’t some of your abilities tied to your Felguard? That’s the only reason I thought having to switch to the felhunter was annoying.

Axe toss will interrupt targets it can’t stun.
It’s not a great solution, but it’s the only one we’ve been given so…
correct you have a few talents tied to felguard, so switching him is a bad idea. its why the outcry for a kick for demo is consistently heard. and then ignored.

Also, using Fear will stop a cast.

I had switched back to Demonology a few days ago to see what would happen up against the Mawsworn Flame tenders mob in front of some portals in Torghast I had last week. At that time with affliction I fought them for an hour. Tried interrupting the healing and nothing worked. Then/ I tried spamming fear, and killed it. I had tried Fel Hunter, Shadowfury, and only fear would keep it from healing itself. The interrupts were way too short and weak, to stop this broken Mob from healing itself.
So tonight I went in as Demonology with Axe Toss and I swear I spent an hour throwing everything at him including Fel Hunter, to see if I could kill it without using much fear. No luck. I finally started spamming fear till I was getting OOM messages, When was the last time I had gotten that 2008? The Flame-tender was literally squished between a wall and a pillar, while I threw everything Demo has at him, (I am ilvl 183) without a pause. I carefully watched the three casts he did and tried interrupting Inner flame, then Harrow with axe toss Shadowfury and it was just a momentary interrupt on either of them. I was not getting much damage from him.
So finally I went back to spamming fear and he finally went down. I don’t know if this is working as intended----I doubt it.
This was level 2 of Soul Forges. Floor number 2. Everything else, including the boss on floor 6 was easy as pie.
Its aboit as annoying and frustrating as a balance druids looooooooong CD on and aoe interrupt. Its crazy how some classes interupt which os very important for solo play in torghast is so strict on some specs and not others.
You do know that the “grey bar” casts can’t be interrupted right? Like Harrow, for example? You can usually CC those, with a Stun or a Fear, but you can’t interrupt them with a Counterspell or a Kick.
Also interrupts definitely work on their channeled Inner Fire heal/buff; I do it all the time on my Shaman.
The Warlock interrupts need fixing for sure. Having to use fear is idiotic.
You don’t need to use Fear. It can help, but you have the Felhunter and Shadowfury (for a short stun) anyways, before even getting to Fear or Axe Toss (another stun/interrupt). Saying that you have to use Fear is like me saying that my Shaman has to use Hex; it’s an option, but it’s damn sure not the best one.

I agree with you though that conduit that increases fear targets damage taken is nifty. Definitely not something to build a character around but hey, different strokes…

As I said. Nothing else worked. Please reread what I said.
Now this is probably a bugged MOB, but ONLY fear works. Fel Hunter No, Shadowfury no. Axe Toss no. I watched it heal many times in an hour of this. I almost gave up and then went hog wild with fear.
You do know that a stun won’t prevent the enemy from just starting the cast again, right? Did you stun them and then they just started casting again? Either that or you missed it with Shadowfury or Spell Lock (and you can’t Spell Lock grey bars like Harrow).
I find it incredibly difficult to believe that you spent an hour on one mob trying Shadowfury out every minute too. Don’t be so hyperbolic.
Yes. I am aware. Hyperbolic? That goofy.
I am accurately reporting exactly what happened. I experimented with everything. I didn’t want only fear to work. Once I started the crazy fear spamming, it worked. Nothing else touched it. Thats also what happened for an hour with Affliction.
Actually Shadow fury and Axe Toss did interrupt Harrow for a moment. But Inner flame was not touched
Look. I am not saying this for any reason but to report the reality.
This was the only Flame tender in the entire Level, in Soul Forges.
In The last one with Affliction there were lots of them in front of portals. I reported that in previous threads. The mob itself was barely damaging me. I went back to Demonology just to test Axe toss. The previous one was not in Soul Forges. It’s not fun to sit on a broken mob for an hour, with broken warlock interrupts and stuns
This involves Priests
How to beat the Empowered Mawsworn Flametender in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands (msn.com)
It’s a spell. Use Spell Lock. I’ve killed dozens of those all the way up to Layer 8 and my iLvl is 187. I don’t know what to tell you other than you missed a spell lock, shadowfury, or axe toss.
Are you talking about the cast or the buff? If it’s the buff, you can use Devour Magic from your Felhunter to purge it.
Whatever
Of course I didn’t miss any of them. I tried everything.
Go back and do it again and see what happens. The darn thing heals itself any way. I probably killed them before too. I can’t say when this started. The highest level I’ve completed was lvl 5 and did that when my ilvl was in the 170’s.
This was Soul Forges lvl 2 floor 2
