Warlock identity was completely robbed and for what

For a spell called “Drain Life”, it might as well be called “Sip on Some Heavily Diluted Life Essence for a Heal You Can Barely Notice”.

What’s it like not being able to understand something said tongue-in-cheek?

When combined with the other healing sources it was good and meant warlocks needed less healing overall. Then Blizzard made it an AoE with unlimited targets…I miss that in low levels.

The problem with that statement is he’s saying “We don’t want you to play it, so we made it bad.”

And there’s the backpedal, right on cue.

Forget tanks, it’s always been the healers that were the needy primadonnas. Gotta keep those healers happy, so the rest of us can’t have nice things.

I just glossed thru it, I likely overlooked that one lol.
I’ll go thru the video again later today.

Given how bad Demo locks were at that time. Its obvious they just made it barely a spec because it was gonna be replaced anyway

There is no backpedal, I literally listed everything in the post you quoted. My stance is still the same, drain life combined with all the healing factors that warlock had gave warlock good health regen. You are just cherry picking the post when no where did I state that drain life would completely heal a warlock after life tapping alone.

Or can you quote me where I said that?

For the first since Cata, i will NOT be maining a Lock. What they have done to that class is criminal.

I wish Blizzard would let Blood Elves have the mustache without the chin hair.

Then I could be a true warlock.

Why do people keep dragging this up and purposefully taking it out of context?
Seriously, Demonology Warlock was massively over-powered at the time to the point where large swathes of players felt compelled to play it.

Life Tap (the Classic version) became obsolete when Warlocks no longer ran out of Mana.

The only time Warlock was fun and had identity was in Vanilla for me.

We had demons that all had a purpose, now we are just all walking with the big dude… We had debuffs, buffs, life steal, threat mechanics & off tanking abilities. We did supply the raid with stones, gave the tanks HP´s, could still deal damage when the mages were oom and often finished a raid boss due our huge utility kit.

There was a saying in Vanilla “You just did not wipe unless all warlocks were dead.”

Besides all that, the lore was dark and we truly had a pact with the evil, as some of our spells were so situational that when cast wrong, a wipe was imminent.

I think that most Warlock players of today, never experienced our class in it´s original version. A class of 40 buttons, has turned into a class of 3-4 that is just not fun. Sadly, whenever a “Warlock is dead” thread pops up, people only talk about damage output, something that was never our job in the first place.

The context, BTW, is that they were already working on Legion and knew they were going to have to un-steal Metamorphosis (remember whose ult that was in WC3?) and redesign the whole spec. So it wasn’t worth supporting it in that patch. But they couldn’t explain that because Legion hadn’t been announced yet.

Personally I like the “your own personal Legion” feel, but if it falls flat for some other people, they still have Aff and Destro.

As for lifetap, that’s already been explained upthread – in group play your health isn’t spending your resources, it’s spending someone else’s resources. Nobody wants to hear “I couldn’t save you because the warlock was committing suicide”.

I have both Affliction and Destruction Warlocks. I like playing them both.

Because we don’t run out of mana anymore. It was the only reason we used it to begin with. Wait, there’s still Burning Rush to make you happy, I guess.

Which is weird because if it’s going to be canned anyway why go through the effort of lopping off its legs at the end of the proverbial race for everybody who had fun with it?
Especially if it already sucked.

they said that and nerfed it because i started playing an alt of it and was having fun with a spec i considered evil in nature and i felt bad about having fun doing evil and being evil and so they nerfed it. maybe that’s why at least. it’s not impossible that that’s why at least because they have listened to my thoughts before. i’m labeled insane yes but i don’t think i really am.

Probably thought that having to work health management into a DPS rotation was too complicated. A global cooldown spent using Life Tap is one where you’re not attacking, dammit!
